Problem: The trucking industry experiences one of the highest work-related injury rates. Little work has been conducted previously in the United States to assess the hazards, needs, and injury prevention priorities in trucking.
Method: Two separate industry-wide surveys of 359 trucking companies and 397 commercial truck drivers were conducted in Washington State.
Results: Trucking companies and drivers both ranked musculoskeletal and slip, trip, fall injuries as the top two priorities. Controlling heavy lifting, using appropriate equipment, and addressing slippery surfaces were frequently listed as solutions. There appears to be a gap in safety climate perception between workers and employers. However, driver and company priorities agreed with industry workers' compensation claims. There is room for safety program management improvement in the industry. The study findings detail opportunities for prioritizing and reducing injuries.
Impact On Industry: This information can be used to focus and design interventions for the prevention of work-related injuries while improving industry competitiveness.

The risk of Parkinson's disease (PD) associated with farming has received considerable attention, in particular for pesticide exposure. However, data on PD risk associated with specific farming activities is lacking. We aimed to explore whether specific farming activities exhibited a higher risk of PD than others among the entire French farm manager (FM) population.

Background: The Lihir Islands of Papua New Guinea, located in an area with high burden of malaria and hosting a large mining operation, offer a unique opportunity to study transmission. There, we investigated human and vector factors influencing malaria transmission.
Methods: In 2019, a cross-sectional study was conducted on 2,914 individuals assessing malaria prevalence through rapid diagnostic tests (RDT), microscopy, and quantitative PCR (qPCR).

To investigate the changes of metabolites in urine of automobile manufacturing workers with muscle fatigue using metabolomics technology, and to explore potential biomarkers and disrupted metabolic pathways. In July 2022, urine samples were collected from 35 male workers in a certain automobile manufacturing industry before and after muscle fatigue, and metabolite analysis was conducted. Subsequently, multivariate statistical analysis was used for data processing to screen differential metabolites.

During the filling process of LNG tank trucks, due to the long-term operation of filling equipment in low temperature and high-pressure conditions, the sealing parts in the equipment are prone to failure, leading to leaks. The reasons for the leakage of LNG filling equipment were analyzed, and the diffusion of LNG after different equivalent leakage hole diameters and different wind speeds were numerically analyzed. A gas leak monitoring system suitable for LNG filling stations was established based on TDLAS technology.

Police crash reports have traditionally been the primary data source for research and development projects aimed at improving traffic safety. However, there are important limitations of such data, particularly the relative infrequency of crashes on a site-by-site basis in many contexts. Crash analyses often require multiple years of data and the use of such data for short-term evaluations creates challenges.
