In the pursuit of personalized medicine, there is a growing demand for computational models with parameters that are easily obtainable to accelerate the development of potential solutions. Blood tests, owing to their affordability, accessibility, and routine use in healthcare, offer valuable biomarkers for assessing hemostatic balance in thrombotic and bleeding disorders. Incorporating these biomarkers into computational models of blood coagulation is crucial for creating patient-specific models, which allow for the analysis of the influence of these biomarkers on clot formation.

This study analyzes the prognostic factors of thrombosis in patients with hematological diseases after peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) surgery. We conducted a retrospective analysis of 223 patients with hematological diseases who underwent PICC catheterization between January 2017 and June 2021. These patients were categorized into the thrombotic group and non-thrombotic group based on the occurrence of thrombosis following PICC catheterization.

The residual risk of developing CVC in such patients is largely determined by the high thrombotic status, that is associated with hypercoagulation characteristic of DM. Hypercoagulation causes activation of both platelet and coagulation pathways, which leads to an increased susceptibility to thrombosis.

Introduction Hemodialysis (HD) therapy is a crucial treatment for patients with renal failure but can impact the hemodynamics of antithrombin (AT), a protein essential for regulating hemostasis and preventing thrombosis. Reduced AT activity can lead to thrombus formation at unusual sites and increase the risk of recurrent venous thromboembolism. The loss of AT during HD or hemodiafiltration (HDF) through leakage or adsorption onto dialysis membranes has not been fully investigated, and its effects on AT hemodynamics remain unclear.

Introduction: The recently recommended activated clotting time (ACT) to be maintained at the initiation of and during cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) is ≥480 s. However, the post-unfractionated heparin (UFH) administration ACT occasionally does not exceed 480 s. Therefore, in this study, we retrospectively evaluated the factors influencing post-heparin administration ACT before initiating CPB.
