Natural bentonite mineral, without any wet chemical treatment, was used directly to catalyze the growth of multi-wall CNTs and the produced CNTs/bentonite as an integrated composite stably catalyzed the oxidative dehydrogenation reaction over a long period of time; this concept provides a highly economical way for large-scale synthesis of nanocarbons and manufacture of styrene synthesis catalysts.

As one of the key diagnostic methods for detecting biomarkers and antigen-antibody interactions, the luminescent oxygen channel immunoassay (LOCI) has been widely applied in bioanalysis and other fields. In the context of LOCI, the performance of the prepared donor polystyrene (PS) microspheres significantly impacts the detection signal values. In this study, an attempt was made to synthesize PS microspheres via one-step polymerization of styrene with an amphiphilic monomer (PEOOH), followed by swelling the silicon phthalocyanine photosensitizer into the PS microspheres, resulting in the functionalization of the PS microspheres with polyethylene glycol segments.

In order to solve the problems of long dissolution and preparation time, cumbersome preparation, and easy moisture absorption and deterioration during storage or transportation, acrylamide (AM), acrylic acid (AA), sodium p-styrene sulfonate (SSS), and cetyl dimethylallyl ammonium chloride (DMAAC-16) were selected as raw materials, and the emulsion thickener P(AM/AA/SSS), which can be instantly dissolved in water and rapidly thickened, was prepared by the reversed-phase emulsion polymerization method. DMAAC-16, the influence of emulsifier dosage, oil-water ratio, monomer molar ratio, monomer dosage, aqueous pH, initiator dosage, reaction temperature, reaction time, and other factors on the experiment was explored by a single-factor experiment, and the optimal process was determined as follows: the oil-water volume ratio was 0.4, the emulsifier dosage was 7% of the oil phase mass, the initiator dosage was 0.

Biochar-based fertilizer has potential benefits in improving soil quality and crop yield, but the biological mechanisms of soil microbial enzymes interacting with related metabolisms still need to be further investigated. In this study, we combined enzymology and untargeted metabolomics to investigate how biochar-based fertilizer substitution affects soil quality and crop yield by regulating soil enzymes and metabolites in dry-crop farmland. Our findings showed that biochar-based fertilizer substitution enhanced the activities of enzymes related to carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus cycling, as well as influenced metabolite composition.

Background: Nano(micro)plastics (NMPs) and agrochemicals are ubiquitous pollutants. The small size and physicochemical properties of NMPs make them potential carriers for pollutants, affecting their bioavailability and impact on living organisms. However, little is known about their interactions in terrestrial ecosystems.

Polystyrene nanoparticles pose significant toxicological risks to aquatic ecosystems, yet their impact on zebrafish ( ) embryonic development, particularly erythropoiesis, remains underexplored. This study used single-cell RNA sequencing to comprehensively evaluate the effects of polystyrene nanoparticle exposure on erythropoiesis in zebrafish embryos. validation experiments corroborated the transcriptomic findings, revealing that polystyrene nanoparticle exposure disrupted erythrocyte differentiation, as evidenced by the decrease in mature erythrocytes and concomitant increase in immature erythrocytes.
