The changing manual handling needs of staff must be reflected in their training. In order to allow for professional development, it is essential that community nurses have dedicated time to attend educational sessions on manual handling, where problem solving is encouraged. A variety of familiar handling situations are discussed, and strategies to overcome them are suggested. The article focuses on several methods of assisting a patient from sitting to standing. Confusion may arise when selecting appropriate equipment or a method to assist. Guidance to aid selection of appropriate equipment is given in the form of an algorithm to aid community practitioners.

Skin cancer is one of the most prevalent and harmful forms of cancer, with early detection being crucial for successful treatment outcomes. However, current skin cancer detection methods often suffer from limitations such as reliance on manual inspection by clinicians, inconsistency in diagnostic accuracy, and a lack of personalized recommendations based on patient-specific data. In our work, we presented a Personalized Recommendation System to handle Skin Cancer at an early stage based on Hybrid Model (PRSSCHM).

While active back-support exoskeletons can reduce mechanical loading of the spine, current designs include only one pair of actuated hip joints combined with a rigid structure between the pelvis and trunk attachments, restricting lumbar flexion and consequently intended lifting behavior. This study presents a novel active exoskeleton including actuated lumbar and hip joints as well as subject-specific exoskeleton control based on a real-time active low-back moment estimation. We evaluated the effect of exoskeleton support with different lumbar-to-hip (L/H) support ratios on spine loading, lumbar kinematics, and back muscle electromyography (EMG).

Purpose: The diagnosis of fungal keratitis using potassium hydroxide (KOH) smears of corneal scrapings enables initiation of the correct antimicrobial therapy at the point-of-care but requires time-consuming manual examination and expertise. This study evaluates the efficacy of a deep learning framework, dual stream multiple instance learning (DSMIL), in automating the analysis of whole slide imaging (WSI) of KOH smears for rapid and accurate detection of fungal infections.
Design: Retrospective observational study.

The first protocells are speculated to have arisen from the self-assembly of simple abiotic carboxylic acids, alcohols, and other amphiphiles into vesicles. To study the complex process of vesicle formation, we combined laboratory automation with AI-guided experimentation to accelerate the discovery of specific compositions and underlying principles governing vesicle formation. Using a low-cost commercial liquid handling robot, we automated experimental procedures, enabling high-throughput testing of various reaction conditions for mixtures of seven (7) amphiphiles.

Background: Retesting for HIV during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum is crucial for identifying new infections and ensuring timely interventions to prevent mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT). Uganda's national guidelines recommend that pregnant women be retested in the 3rd trimester or during labor/delivery. However, limited information exists regarding adherence to these guidelines, which may affect the effectiveness of PMTCT efforts.
