Published: January 2009

A one-pot reaction for the synthesis of 4,4'-diaryl- and 4,4'-diheteroaryl-substituted 2,2'-bipyrroles is described. The new methodology is based on the oxidative coupling of a 2-trimethylstannylated pyrrole and does not require chromatography. These 2,2'-bipyrroles can be used as precursors in a expeditious synthesis of 2,7,12,17-tetraaryl-porphycenes.

Department of Drug Design and Pharmacology, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, Universitetsparken 2, 2100 København Ø, Denmark.

Phenethylamines and phenylisopropylamines of scientific relevance can be prepared with a NaBH/CuCl system in 10 to 30 minutes via reduction of substituted β-nitrostyrenes. This one-pot procedure allows the quick isolation of substituted β-nitrostyrene scaffolds with 62-83% yield under mild conditions, without the need for special precautions, inert atmosphere, and time-consuming purification techniques.

Hierarchical Biogenic-Based Thermal Insulation Foam.

January 2025

Department of Materials Science and Engineering, University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland 20742, United States.

Biogenic-based foam, renowned for its sustainable and eco-friendly properties, is emerging as a promising thermal insulating material with the potential to significantly enhance energy efficiency and sustainability in building applications. However, its relatively high thermal conductivity, large-pore configurations, and energy-intensive manufacturing processes hinder its widespread use. Here, we report on the scalable, one-pot synthesis of biogenic foams achieved by integrating recycled paper pulp and in situ nanoporous silica formation, resulting in a hierarchical structure comprising both micropores and nanopores.

Self-supported ultrathin PtRuMoCoNi high-entropy alloy nanowires (HEANWs) were synthesized by a one-pot co-reduction method, whose peroxidase (POD)-like activity and catalytic mechanism were elaborated in detail. As expected, the PtRuMoCoNi HEANWs showed excellent POD-like activity. It can quickly catalyze the oxidization of colorless 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) to blue TMB through decomposition of HO to superoxide radicals.

N-acyl/sulfonyl-α-phosphonated 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroiso-quinolines (THIQs) are highly important structural motifs in organic synthesis and drug discovery. However, the one-pot approach enabling direct difunctionalization of THIQs remains challenging. Herein we report a photomediated one-pot multicomponent cascade reaction to access N-acyl/sulfonyl-α-phosphonated THIQs via twice acyl/sulfonyl iminium.
