Here we report an unusual case of disseminated cryptococcosis in a patient with AIDS. Although typical Cryptococcus neoformans micromorphology was observed in tongue biopsy, cervical lymph node examination revealed atypical histopathologic findings. These included pseudohyphae, chains of budding yeasts and structures resembling germ tubes. Cryptococcus neoformans infection in supraclavicular lymph nodes was also confirmed by culture. The importance of using special histochemical techniques-Mayer's mucicarmine stain for mucicarminophilic capsule and Grocott's silver stain-in the diagnosis of cryptococcosis is reinforced.

Objectives: Reporting the histological effects of chronic stress on certain oral tissues, as well as the capacity of Thymus vulgaris (thyme) to protect tissues from stress and link both serum cortisol and serotonin levels.
Methods: 30 rats were randomly divided into a trio of groups: normal control (no treatment), stress group (chronic stress without treatment), and treatment group (chronic stress treated with thyme at a dose of 200 mg/kg BW orally via needle gavage daily for 21 days). At the end of the experiment, tongues and major sublingual glands (SLGs) were surgically removed and processed for histological and histochemical studies.

To evaluate the drug release, cytocompatibility with periodontal ligament cells (PDLCs), and therapeutic efficacy of GelMA hydrogel loaded with resolvin D1 (RvD1) in treating rat periodontal inflammation and alveolar bone damage. An RvD1 complexed with GelMA was prepared, and its release kinetics and compatibility with PDLCs were assessed. Rats with induced periodontitis were treated weekly with topical applications of vehicle, GelMA, RvD1, or RvD1 complexed with GelMA for four weeks.

Background: Subcortical ischemic vascular dementia (SIVD) is a common subtype of vascular dementia. Currently, the bilateral common carotid artery stenosis (BCAS) mouse model is the most suitable SIVD rodent model. In this study, we investigated the functional and structural impairments in the hippocampus 1 month after BCAS.

Introduction: Maternal infections such as chorioamnionitis could impact fetal lung development by altering cell proliferation and apoptosis. Chorioamnionitis favors the multiple pleiotropic cytokines production such as LIF (leukemia inhibitory factor) and an inflammation-related protein p53. The cytokine production can lead to lung tissue damage and lung disease development.
