The first edition of "Heji Jufang" was published during the Northern Song Period and then revised numerous times. In this work the author examined in detail the process of revising the "Heji Jufang" and obtained the following results. The most commonly used edition of the "Heji Jufang" is divided into six pharmacopoeias. However, they are not arranged in chronological order. The Wuzhige and Shaoxing pharmacopoeias were compiled at around the same time, while the Xutian pharmacopoeia was revised in the first year of the Jiading era (1208). The work is generally divided into the main body, comprising the Daguan, Shaoxing, Baoqing and Chunyou pharmacopoeias, with additional entries found in the Wuzhige and Xutian pharmacopoeias. It seems reasonable to assume that individual portions were gradually enlarged over time. In the main body of the pharmacopoeia, there is no distinction between individual compilations from the Daguan, Shaoxing, Baoqing and Chunyou eras. The relevant divisions were presumably added intentionally after the Chunyou era.
