A middle-aged man presented with recent-onset dyspnea and recurrent syncopal attacks at our institute. Echocardiography revealed a large mass arising from the inferior vena cava and prolapsing into the right atrium and ventricle. Histopathologic examination revealed the classic features of a myxoma. Pulmonary sequestration is a rare pulmonary malformation, typically characterized by asymptomatic presentation or recurrent pulmonary infections, with chest pain and hemothorax being exceedingly rare occurrences. The rupture and hemorrhage of maternal pulmonary sequestration during pregnancy pose a life-threatening condition that is challenging to diagnose. We present a case of a 37-year-old pregnant woman in her third trimester who presented with acute progressive hemothorax, a complication arising from maternal pulmonary sequestration.

Personalizing the management of neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) poses significant challenges for practicing retina specialists and their patients. This commentary addresses some of these complexities, particularly those that arise in the context of an expanding array of intravitreal agents targeting vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and related retinal disease targets. Many of these newer agents approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of nAMD have labeling that indicates that they can provide non-inferior visual outcomes when compared head-to-head with previously available treatments and can be used at significantly extended dosing intervals in some patients.

An adult patient was admitted to our emergency department for a first episode of generalized tonic-clonic seizure. Computed tomography scan and magnetic resonance imaging showed a temporal intracranial hemorrhage and parenchymal edema caused by a dural arteriovenous fistula (DAVF), whose angioarchitecture was better understood through the DSA which showed as intriguing and rare vascular anomaly the origin of the posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA) from the middle meningeal artery (MMA). The endovascular treatment of the DAVF was then successfully performed.
