Over the past two decades, a number of Canadian paediatric academic programs, previously operated as separate hospitals, have been integrated into larger teaching hospitals or regional health authorities. The present article describes the recent experience of the Children's Hospital of Western Ontario within the London Health Sciences Centre (London, Ontario) to illustrate the potential deleterious effects of planning, system and program changes in a large academic hospital without child health input at the executive decision-making level. The vision of the London Health Sciences Centre Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors was divergent from that of the paediatric health care providers, which resulted in the resignation of a number of paediatric subspecialists and compromised the ability of the Department of Paediatrics to deliver paediatric care and educate future professionals. The present article highlights the need for the involvement of paediatric stakeholders in strategic planning in the hope that other academic centres can learn from this experience.

As funding for large translational research consortia increases across the National Institutes of Health (NIH), focused working groups provide an opportunity to leverage the power of unique networks to conduct high-impact science and offer a strategy for building collaborative infrastructure to sustain networks long-term. This sustainment leverages the existing NIH investments, amplifying the impact and creating conditions for future innovative translational research. As a key food production base, land use changes in the Jianghan Plain (JHP) significantly affect the surface landscape structure and ecological risks, posing challenges to food security. Assessing the ecological risk of the JHP, identifying its drivers, and predicting the risk trends under different scenarios can provide strategic support for ecological risk management and safeguarding food security in the JHP. In this study, the landscape ecological risk (LER) index was constructed by integrating landscape indices from 2000 to 2020, firstly analyzing its spatiotemporal characteristics, subsequently identifying the key influencing factors by using the GeoDetector model, and finally, simulating the risk changes under the four scenarios by using the Markov-PLUS model.

Wind Turbine Health Monitoring (WTHM) is typically achieved through either vibration analysis or by using Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) data of wind turbines, wherein conventional fault pattern identification is a time-consuming, guesswork process. This work proposed an intelligent automated approach to early fault detection through the implementation of the HARO (Huber Adam Regression Optimizer) model, which combines Transformer networks with Lasso Regression and the Adam optimizer.
