RNA interference (RNAi) has been successfully applied in suppression of hepatic cancer genes. In hepatocelluar carcinoma cell, one methionine adenosyltransferase (MAT) isozyme, MATII was found to have two catalytic subunits which were encoded by MAT2A and MAT2beta respectively. During tumorigeness of hepatocelluar carcinoma, expressions of the two genes were discovered to be increased combining with a switch of MAT (form MATI to MATII), To figure out the role played by MATII in hepatic cancer, In this study, for the first time we established a dual small interfering RNA (siRNA) expression system, which could simultaneously express two different siRNA molecules specifically targeting two genes. To test the effectiveness of this system, we applied this approach to express simultaneously two different siRNA duplexes that specifically target MAT2A and MAT2beta genes of hepatocelluar carcinoma respectively in HepG2 cell. Results indicated that dual siRNA could simultaneously inhibit the expression of MAT2A and MAT2beta gene by 89.5% and 97.8% respectively, In addition, dual siRNA molecules were able to significantly suppress growth of hepatocelluar carcinoma cell in vitro as well as induce apoptosis which was involved in arrest cell cycle at the G1/S checkpoint and the expressions of p21, p27 and Bax.

Purpose: Transarterial radioembolization (TARE) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is performed after a mapping angiogram involving infusion of radiolabeled macroaggregated albumin to assess for non-target embolization and pulmonary shunting. The purpose of this case series was to evaluate the safety and feasibility of single-session TARE without the initial procedure.
Materials And Methods: A single-institution case series of 16 consecutive procedures on 15 patients with 18 tumors who underwent an attempted single-session TARE procedures with glass microspheres are presented.

Hepatocelluar carcinoma presenting as a biliary duct tumor thrombus is a relatively rare entity, with poor prognosis. The primary clinical manifestation of this disease is obstructive jaundice, which can often be misdiagnosed. A 59-year-old female patient was admitted with sudden onset of abdominal pain.

Background And Purpose: The present study aimed to validate the performance of a previously proposed subclassification model to predict prognosis after combined transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) and external beam radiotherapy (RT) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with macrovascular invasion (MVI) in an independent cohort that received the same first-line treatment for the patients with the similar disease extent characteristics, and analyzed the progression patterns as well as progression-free survival (PFS).
Materials And Methods: This study was conducted using prospectively collected data from the XXXXX HCC registry for newly diagnosed, previously untreated HCC between 2005 and 2018. Finally, 417 patients who satisfied the eligibility criteria were included and analyzed.

Background And Aims: As a result of increasing numbers of studies most recently, mitophagy plays a vital function in the genesis of cancer. However, research on the predictive potential and clinical importance of mitophagy-related genes (MRGs) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is currently lacking. This study aimed to uncover and analyze the mitophagy-related diagnostic biomarkers in HCC using machine learning (ML), as well as to investigate its biological role, immune infiltration, and clinical significance.

Kinesin family member 2C (KIF2C) is the best-characterized member of the kinesin-13 family and is involved in accurately fine-tuned dynamics of mitotic spindles. As KIF2C is involved in both spindle formation and regulation of DNA double-strand breaks, precise regulation of KIF2C is essential to prevent malignant transformation associated with gains and losses of DNA content. In the present study, we initially reviewed The Cancer Genome Atlas database and observed that KIF2C is abundantly expressed in most tumor types.
