Nitric oxide is an intracellular messenger which is involved in several functions and pathologies such as depression, anxiety, learning and memory. In many studies nitric oxide synthase inhibitors (NOSI) were shown to possess antidepressant-like effects in animal models of depression. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of a selective neuronal and inducible nitric oxide synthase inhibitor TRIM (30 mg/kg/day, 35 days) in mice subjected to unpredictable chronic mild stress and then compare it's effect with a conventional selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor fluoxetine (15 mg/kg/day, 35 days). Stressed vehicle animals showed a significant disturbed coat state when compared with nonstressed animals and this effect was reversed by TRIM or fluoxetine. Both TRIM and fluoxetine prevented the stress-induced deficit in the grooming behaviour in the splash test. TRIM and fluoxetine also significantly decreased the attack frequency when compared to the stressed control group in the resident-intruder test. These results support the assumption that NOS inhibitors can be a new class of antidepressant drugs possibly acting on neuronal NOS.

Background: Current treatments for penile erectile structures reconstruction are limited and remain a great challenge in clinical practice. Tissue engineering techniques using different seed cells and scaffolds to construct a neo-tissue open promising avenues for penile erectile structures repair and replacement and show great promise in the restoration of: structure, mechanical property, and function which matches the original tissue.
Methods: A comprehensive literature review was conducted by accessing the NCBI PubMed, Cochrane, and Google Scholar databases from January 1, 1990, to January, 1, 2022 using the search terms "Tissue engineering, Corpus cavernosum (CC), Tunica albuginea (TA), Acellular Matrix, Penile Reconstruction".

Manganese (Mn), a trace element, has been documented to exert an important role in the metabolism of cholesterol. Cholesterol gallstone (CG) pathogenesis is directly linked to biliary cholesterol imbalance which could be due to diabetes complications or mismanagement. NF-κβ pathway, an inflammatory regulator, has been implicated in metabolic disease especially in the context of diabetes and gallstone formation.

Diabetes can affect male fertility via oxidative stress and endocrine system disruption. Nanomedicine based on natural products is employed to address diabetes complications. The current study aims to investigate the potential beneficial effect of propolis extract nanoparticles against diabetes-induced testicular damage in male rats.

An unusual C15nor-halimane-type diterpenoid, norcrohalane A (1), a new nor-lasserane-type sesquiterpenoid, norcrolasane A (2), along with four known compounds (3-6) were isolated from the roots of Croton crassifolius. Compound 1 represents the first example of a C15nor-halimane-type diterpenoid, which features a rare 6/6/6 tricyclic ring system, and the A ring is aromatic. Compound 2 is a rare nor-lasserane-type sesquiterpenoid.

Hormones are effective in regulating plant metabolism and, therefore, are often used in plant cell culture to increase the yield of target products. This study investigated the effects of hormones on the growth and anthocyanin biosynthesis of suspension-cultured red Cyclocarya paliurus cells. Additionally, the mechanism by which gibberellin induces anthocyanin biosynthesis was explored through multi-omics integrated analysis and the assay of the dynamic changes in signaling molecule concentration.
