Introduction: Functional beverages are increasingly popular but it is important to validate their purported effects through research. The aim of the current study was to investigate the effects of a new functional energy shot on cognitive performance and mood states in healthy adults, with a focus on measuring mental energy enhancement and attenuation of negative effects associated with extended performance of mentally demanding tasks.
Methods: This study was a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover trial.

This study aimed to implement a targeted multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) screening strategy using liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) for the initial detection of 165 compounds of emerging concern (CECs) in water, sediment, and fish samples. Following the screening, confirmatory and quantitative analyses were conducted using analytical standards for the detected compounds. Qualitative results were confirmed using high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) for those CECs without available standards.

Objective: The study aimed to assess responsiveness to the effects of acute caffeine intake after 8 weeks of Pilates intervention in healthy older adults.
Methods: Fifteen healthy older adults performed physical performance regarding daily practice, strength, and balance tests after ingestion of acute 5 mg/kg of caffeine or placebo before and after Pilates training.
