Mild malformation of cortical development with oligodendroglial hyperplasia in epilepsy (MOGHE) is an important cause of drug-resistant epilepsy. A significant subset of individuals diagnosed with MOGHE display somatic mosaicism for loss-of-function variants in SLC35A2, which encodes the UDP-galactose transporter. We developed a mouse model to investigate how disruption of this transporter leads to a malformation of cortical development.

To evaluate whether reduced curing performance due to compromised light tip placement can be mitigated by bulk-fill composite and/or high-intensity curing light. Plastic discs with 2.5-mm deep cavities were filled with a conventional (Mosaic™) or bulk-fill (Tetric® PowerFill) composite and cured with a BluePhase® PowerCure curing light at normal and high-power settings, with light tip placement at distance and/or 45 degree angle.

Dye coupling of horizontal cells in the primate retina.

Front Ophthalmol (Lausanne)

November 2023

Ruiz Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science, McGovern Medical School, University of Texas at Houston, Houston, TX, United States.

In the monkey retina, there are two distinct types of axon-bearing horizontal cells, known as H1 and H2 horizontal cells (HCs). In this study, cell bodies were prelabled using 4',6-diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI), and both H1 and H2 horizontal cells were filled with Neurobiotin™ to reveal their coupling, cellular details, and photoreceptor contacts. The confocal analysis of H1 and H2 HCs was used to assess the colocalization of terminal dendrites with glutamate receptors at cone pedicles.

Background: Sex chromosome abnormalities associated with disorders of sexual development (DSD) are rarely described in cats, mainly due to the lack of chromossome studies that precisely reveal the condition. Genetic approaches are therefore required in order to detect sex chromossomes abnormalities as variations in the number and structure of chromosomes, or the presence of a second cell line as mosaicim or chimerism.

Case Presentation: A male Shorthair cryptorchid cat was presented with clinical signs of anorexia, tenesmus and hyperthermia.
