Communities of users are employing 3-D online virtual worlds for legitimate health related information exchange and social interaction. In order for care to be effectively delivered, the patient needs a transparent adaptation of real world practices into the virtual space. In this paper, we present our experience translating the clinical practice of teaching elicitation of the Relaxation Response in the real world to the virtual world Second Life. Process, challenges and outcome will be described.

Objective: The pedicle screw insertion technique has evolved significantly, and despite the challenges of precise placement, advancements like AR-based surgical navigation systems now offer enhanced accuracy and safety in spinal surgery by integrating real-time, high-resolution imaging with virtual models to aid surgeons. This study aims to evaluate the differences in accuracy between novel AR-guided pedicle screw insertion and conventional surgery techniques.
Methods: A randomized controlled trial was conducted from March 2019 to December 2023 to compare the efficacy of AR-guided pedicle screw fixation with conventional freehand surgery using CT guidance.

Maze tasks, originally developed in animal research, have become a popular method for studying human cognition, particularly with the advent of virtual reality. However, these experiments frequently rely on simplified environments and tasks, which may not accurately reflect the complexity of real-world situations. Our pilot study aims to transfer a multi-alternative maze with a complex task structure, previously demonstrated to be useful in studying animal cognition, to studying human spatial cognition.

Multiple myeloma treatment has evolved rapidly with the development of novel targeted therapies. The paper outlines multiple myeloma epidemiology, current treatments, and recent advances, highlighting the role of bispecific antibodies. Brazilian authorities have approved 3 bispecific antibodies (teclistamab, elranatamab, and talquetamab) for relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma patients who have received at least three prior therapies.
