The purpose of this study was to evaluate the acute phase protein (serum amyloid A, C-reactive protein, haptoglobin, ceruloplasmin and fibrinogen) profiles in pregnant dogs as well as bitches at various stages of the estrus cycle and to verify possible relationship(s) among the APPs profile and hormonal status. A total of 60 bitches of various breeds were enrolled. The animals were divided into six groups. B-mode ultrasonographic scanner (concept M/C) was used for pregnancy diagnosis, involving the first and second halves of pregnancy. Proestrus, estrus, diestrus and anestrus stages of sexual cycles were differentiated by use of vaginal cytology and blood progesterone and estradiol 17-beta levels. Serum C-reactive protein (CRP), serum amyloid A (SAA), haptoglobin, ceruloplasmin and fibrinogen levels were determined. No statistically significant differences were observed between the groups with regard to the serum SAA and CRP concentrations. Haptoglobin, ceruloplasmin and fibrinogen concentrations were elevated in pregnant dogs compared to non-pregnant groups', independently from the pregnancy stage. No statistically significant differences in acute phase protein concentrations in dogs at various stages of estrus could be detected. Results of this study indicated that ceruloplasmin and fibrinogen levels may have potential importance in the diagnosis of pregnancy, and acute phase proteins may be used for monitoring the health status of the pregnant dogs.

QuANTUM-First (NCT02668653) was a randomized phase 3 trial in newly diagnosed FLT3-ITDQpositive acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients treated with quizartinib or placebo plus standard induction and consolidation chemotherapy and/or allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (allo-HCT), followed by single-agent maintenance therapy. We evaluated the impact of allo-HCT performed in first complete remission (CR1) or composite CR1 (CRc1) on overall survival (OS), considering treatment randomization. Post-hoc extended Cox regression multivariable analyses were conducted in patients who achieved CR/CRc by the end of induction, including allo-HCT in CR1/CRc1 as a time-dependent variable to identify prognostic and predictive factors for OS.

Rosai-Dorfman disease (RDD) is an unusual, non-malignant proliferative disorder involving non-Langerhans cell histiocytes, characterized by a wide range of clinical presentations and distinctive atypical morphological patterns. The concurrent manifestation of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) alongside RDD is exceptionally rare. Here, we present the case of a 14-year-old male patient diagnosed with ALL who, during the consolidation phase of chemotherapy, developed multifocal bone, dural, and liver lesions, as confirmed through CT and MRI imaging.

Introduction: Older patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) respond poorly to standard induction therapy. DNA methyltransferases (DNMTs) and histone-deacetylases (HDACs) are key regulators of gene expression in cells and have been investigated as important therapeutic targets. However, their effects remains unclear as induction therapy for AML.

The effects of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection persist months and years after recovery. We conducted an online survey to assess the health condition of convalescents approximately 5 months following the primary infection of SARS-CoV-2. The study recruited 5,510 individuals who were primary infected, 626 participants who had experienced reinfection, and 521 participants who were without infective history.

Background: The optimal treatment methods for delayed encephalopathy after acute carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning (DEACMP) were not identified. Thus, this study was conducted to compare the efficacies of intermittent theta burst stimulation (iTBS) and short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) in treating cognitive dysfunction and anxiety symptoms of DEACMP rat.
Methods: In phase I, a DEACMP rat model was built to assess the inflammation levels in the hippocampus and levels of SCFAs in the serum of DEACMP rats.
