Objectives: Children are at greater risk than adults to the effects of inhaling environmental tobacco smoke (ETS) especially in their homes. The aim of this study was to assess parents' knowledge regarding the risks of ETS to the health of their children and the barriers to reducing children's ETS exposure.
Methods: Qualitative research was performed for 50 households in which children were to exposed ETS were selected randomly from the questionnaire respondents for home-based interview. We conducted a total of 53 home-based interviews and collected information from parents regarding their knowledge of ETS effects, smoking behavior at home, barriers to quitting smoking or reducing ETS exposure, social attitudes toward parents who ban smoking, and the impact of the smoke-free legislation.

Some parents reported that their health care professionals did not inform them about the dangers of ETS. Parents restricted smoking in their homes, with a range of spatial restrictions which were frequently modified by family relation factors and the desire to be seen to act in socially and morally acceptable ways. The homeotic transformation of stamens into pistil-like structures (pistillody) causes cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS). This phenomenon is widely present in plants, and might be induced by intracellular communication (mitochondrial retrograde signaling), but its systemic regulating mechanism is still unclear. In this study, morphological observation showed that the stamens transformed into pistil-like structures, leading to flat and dehiscent pistils, and fruit set decrease in sua-CMS (MS K326, somatic fusion between Nicotiana.

Aims: To study differences in cardiovascular prevention and hypertension management in primary care in men and women, with comparisons between public and privately operated primary health care (PHC).
Methods: We used register data from Region Stockholm on collected prescribed medication and registered diagnoses, to identify patients aged 30 years and above with hypertension. Age-adjusted logistic regression was used to calculate odds ratios (ORs) with 99% confidence intervals (99% CIs) using public PHC centers as referents.

Background/objectives: Head and neck cancer (HNC) is the seventh most common cancer worldwide, with rising incidence rates and significant mortality. While tobacco use, alcohol consumption, and viral infections are established risk factors, the role of dietary patterns, particularly adherence to the Mediterranean diet (MD), in HNC prevention has gained increasing attention. The aim of the current systematic review and meta-analysis is to investigate the association between adherence to the MD and the risk of HNC.
