Objective: It was the aim of our study to investigate the association between culture time and weight of villi obtained by transabdominal chorionic villus sampling (CVS).
Methods: We analyzed 1,442 villus samples.
Results: The gestational age at sampling ranged from 10 to 14 weeks. The weight of villi in these samples ranged from 1 to 80 mg (median 10 mg, interquatile range 7-12 mg). The culture time ranged from 5 to 24 days. Culture time was significantly and inversely correlated with the weight of villi obtained (r = -0.258, p < 0.01). Time was significantly longer when 5 mg or less of villi was obtained but the difference was only up to 2 days.
Conclusions: Because the difference in culture time for different groups of villus samples was within 1-2 days, this relationship is statistically significant but has no clinical significance.

The aim of our study was to characterize the hydrodynamics and mass transfer in a novel internal flat-plate airlift cylindrical reactor to increase the biodegradation of newspaper. We evaluated the degradation kinetics of newspaper in a batch culture with . Gas holdup, mixing time, the Reynolds number, and volumetric mass transfer coefficient () properties were characterized in biphasic and triphasic systems in order to optimize their operational conditions.

The mini-cutting physiological condition is vital for the rooting process. For accurate interpretation, considering all mini-cutting responses in an experiment is necessary to identify significant rooting-biomarkers. The study investigates rooting-biomarkers during vegetative propagation, focusing on Ilex paraguariensis (yerba mate) clones of contrasting mini-cutting rooting performance as a case study (i.

Chondrocyte senescence is an important pathogenic factor causing osteoarthritis (OA) progression through persistently producing pro-inflammatory factors. Mesenchymal stem cells-derived small extracellular vesicles (MSC-sEVs) have shown anti-inflammatory effects in OA models, while persistent existence of senescent chondrocytes still promotes cartilage destruction. Therefore, improving the targeted elimination ability on senescent chondrocytes is required to facilitate the translation of MSC-sEVs in OA treatment.

Background: The global incidence of type 2 diabetes is rapidly rising, particularly among migrants in developed countries. Migrants bear a significant burden of diabetes. However, this study is the only to evaluate the effects of a culturally appropriate diabetes intervention for these migrants on diabetes knowledge and health outcomes, adding a novel perspective to the existing literature.
