A carousel interferometer is designed to find the unknown angle and axis of rotation simultaneously. A set consisting of a compensator glass plate and a right-angle prism is placed in each of the two arms of the interferometer while located at the same rotational stage. When rotation takes place individual and relative optical path differences are generated in the beams that contribute toward finding out the angle and axis of rotation. Computer simulation shows that error remains less than a nanometer for a 1 m length of unknown radius and rotation range of +/-15 degrees .

Rotational spectroscopy is an excellent tool for structure determination, which can provide additional insights into local electronic structure by investigating the hyperfine pattern due to nuclear quadrupole coupling. Jet-cooled molecules are good experimental benchmark targets for electronic structure calculations, as they are free of environmental effects. We report the rotational spectra of 2-chlorobenzaldehyde, 3-chlorobenzaldehyde, and 4-chlorobenzaldehyde, including a complete experimental description of the nuclear quadrupole coupling constants, which were previously not experimentally determined.

Beam-divergence characteristics of single negative ion beamlet have been experimentally investigated with a superimposition of a controlled perturbation of a radio frequency wave (RF) field in a filament-arc discharge negative ion source. Oscillations of a negative-ion beamlet width and axis responding to the RF perturbation were observed, which may be a cause of the larger beam divergence angle of the RF negative ion source for ITER. It is pointed out that the oscillation of the beamlet width depends on the perveance and on an RF frequency such that the oscillation is suppressed at perveance-matched conditions and at low RF frequency.

With the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) lowering the annual dose limit for the eye lens to 20 mSv, precise monitoring of eye lens exposure has become essential. The personal dose equivalent at a depth of 3 mm, Hp(3), is the measurement method for monitoring the dose to the lens of the eye. Traditional dosimetry methods primarily address lateral radiation exposure scenarios, where radiation approaches from the left or right, necessitating the rotation of the phantom during type testing around the vertical axis.

A facial appearance of premature aging due to poor bone support of the soft tissues is frequently found in patients with midface hypoplasia. This study was performed to evaluate the changes in the soft tissues of the cheek area in patients subjected to bimaxillary orthognathic surgery. The cheek line angle and length of 27 consecutive patients who underwent bimaxillary surgery, were measured on cone beam computed tomography scans obtained before surgery and at 1 and 12 months after surgery using 3D software.

Background: Laminectomy and fusion (LF) and laminoplasty (LP) are common treatments for cervical spondylotic myelopathy and myeloradiculopathy. While both procedures show similar clinical improvement, LF requires bony fusion while LP offers motion preservation. Cervical sagittal alignment and horizontal gaze maintenance are key outcome measures, but their comparative effects between LF and LP remain unclear.
