This study reports the rationale for the composition of a 3-day mandatory communication skills course for pre-registration house officers (PRHOs). In addition to communication skills, the course addresses aspects of competence related to professional performance within areas covered by the legal framework, the ability to analyse ethical problems, and health advocacy. Standard evaluation forms were collected from 274 PRHOs. The course was highly rated by participants with respect to content, form and outcome.

Objectives: This study investigates the status of end-of-life (EOL) care and palliative care (PC) training in Spanish medical schools and assesses students' perspectives.
Methods: The research employs a quantitative cross-sectional survey and a systematic review of curricula including schools to which the respondent students belonged to.
Results: A systematic review reveals that only 12 out of 39 universities offer mandatory PC or EOL care subjects, often integrated with other areas.

Front-of-pack nutrition labels (FOPNLs) have been developed since 1989 to curb the increasing prevalence of obesity and non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and to promote healthy consumption choices. While several countries have introduced their own labeling schemes on a voluntary basis, the European Commission aims to harmonize a FOPNL system that will be mandatory for all member states. This paper summarizes a contribution to the current debate on FOPNLs from Italian and Spanish researchers working in the fields of human nutrition, nutritional epidemiology and public health education and communication policy before the final decision on FOPNLs to become mandatory in Europe is taken.

Reporting adverse events (adverse drug reactions) associated with medicines and vaccines assists with identifying previously unrecognised side effects and other safety concerns. Reporting adverse events to the Therapeutic Goods Administration is mandatory for sponsors (pharmaceutical companies), and strongly encouraged but voluntary for healthcare professionals and consumers. Adverse events should be reported even when causality is uncertain, as reports may contribute to identification of a safety signal for new or uncommon events.

Unqualified, presumptive, and bundled recommendations (UPBRs) are associated with increased HPV vaccine uptake and are considered best practice.
