Posterolateral segmentary maxillary impaction osteotomy has a role to play in the treatment of gaps between the upper and lower jaws. It has several advantages, especially an uncomplicated postoperative period and the single-maxillary contention it provides. The indication must be established after an articulator assessment in order to take into account the mandibular protrusion caused by autorotation and to prevent a sagittal shift. Associated marginal glossectomy will frequently be required. Similarly, in case of vertical excess, genioplasty for vertical reduction will improve the facial balance. This technique may also be proposed as "pre-prosthetic surgery" in cases of egression in the premolar and molar areas, for which it has shown excellent results.

The bioavailability of long-chain omega-3 fatty acids is a critical yet often overlooked factor influencing their efficacy. This review evaluates the bioavailability of EPA/DHA from acute (single-dose) and chronic human studies, focusing on (a) chemical forms such as triacylglycerols (TAG, natural and re-esterified, rTAG), non-esterified fatty acids (NEFA), and phospholipids (PL) from sources like fish, krill, and microalgae, and (b) delivery methods like microencapsulation and emulsification. Bioavailability for isolated chemically forms followed the order: NEFA > PL > rTAG > unmodified TAG > ethyl esters (EE).

Background/aim: Large extracellular vesicles (lEV) offer a unique window into the metabolism of their cells of orign and dysregulation of lipid metabolism has been described in patients with small cell lung cancer (SCLC). Therefore, metabolomic profiling of patients' lEVs may offer insight into cancer metabolism as well as new potential biomarkers for monitoring disease progression.

Materials And Methods: lEVs were isolated by differential centrifugation from the peripheral blood of SCLC patients and healthy controls.

Background: Diffuse gliomas are among the most common brain tumors in adults and are associated with a dismal prognosis, especially in patients with glioblastoma. To date, tumor tissue acquisition is mandatory for conclusive diagnosis and therapeutic decision-making. In this study, we aimed to identify possible diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and blood.

(1) Background: Dyslipidemia represents a major risk factor for atherosclerosis-driven cardiovascular disease. Emerging evidence suggests a close relationship between cholesterol metabolism and gut microbiota. Recently, we demonstrated that the short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) propionate (PA) reduces serum cholesterol levels through an immunomodulatory mechanism.
