The use of high temperature molecular absorption spectrometry for the determination of chloride in drinking and ground water samples is described. The chloride is measured by monitoring the absorbance of vaporised aluminium chloride molecule. The effect of various components commonly present in natural waters were studied and any serious interference was found. The accuracy was assessed by comparing the results obtained using the proposed method with those got by conventional titrimetric method.

This study utilized deep eutectic solvents (DES) based on choline chloride/lactic acid (ChCl/LA) to deconstruct coconut fibers. The effects of DES with different temperatures and molar ratios on the yield of lignin, recovery rate of residues, structural changes in lignin and solid residues, and saccharification efficiency were investigated. The results showed that acidic DES treatment effectively deconstructed the coconut fibers, resulting in a high lignin yield of 68.

Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco - Programa de Pós-Graduação em Medicina Veterinária - Departamento de Morfologia e Fisiologia Animal - Recife (PE) - Brazil.

Purpose: To evaluate whether the effectiveness of topical antiseptic solutions in restoring skin continuity solutions is related to their antimicrobial action or to their action in maintaining moisture, in dogs undergoing elective surgeries.

Methods: Forty dogs, 20 males and 20 females, underwent orchiectomy and oophorectomy, respectively. Thereafter, the animals were allocated into four groups (n = 5) and treated with different topical solutions: polyhexanide 0.

In this study, firstly chitin was reacted with chloracetyl chloride to synthesize the macroinitiator chitinchloroacetate (Ch.ClAc). Then, graft copolymers of methacrylamide (MAM), diacetone acrylamide (DAAM), N-(4-nitrophenyl)acrylamide (NPA), and 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) monomers were synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP).

Phenethylamines and phenylisopropylamines of scientific relevance can be prepared with a NaBH/CuCl system in 10 to 30 minutes via reduction of substituted β-nitrostyrenes. This one-pot procedure allows the quick isolation of substituted β-nitrostyrene scaffolds with 62-83% yield under mild conditions, without the need for special precautions, inert atmosphere, and time-consuming purification techniques.

Grupo de Investigación en Energías Renovables y Meteorología-GIERMET, Universidad Tecnológica del Chocó, Cra 22 No 18b -10, Quibdó, Colombia.

The corrosion rates of carbon steel and galvanized steel according to the ISO 9223 standard, the effect of pollutant contamination and atmospheric aggressiveness under high rainfall conditions in the Chocó department were studied. Carbon and galvanized steel samples, chloride, and sulfur collectors were exposed in three atmospheric stations in three strategic positions covering the Colombian Pacific: Quibdó, Andagoya and Bahía Solano, for different exposure periods (up to 18 months). The structural-micro characterization of corrosion products was evaluated via X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy SEM-EDS.
