A fully automatic procedure, based on the polarographic technique of DeFord and Hume, is described for deducing the formula of the highest complex formed in the reaction of a metal ion with a ligand and for evaluating the successive overall formation constants. Its results are indistinguishable from those of careful graphical analysis in the traditional fashion.
