This column describes the use of selected literature and art to foster dialogue in a doctoral course in nursing surrounding issues involving healthcare ethics. Literature provides concentrated slices of reality which pose questions requiring deep reflection about human frailty, suffering, and death. Works of art nurture students' creative thinking and critical judgment and provide a vehicle to describe extraordinary vulnerable situations where nurses are engaged with others.

The purpose of this study is to conduct a literature review on the current role of computed tomography pulmonary angiography (CTPA) in the diagnosis and prognosis of pulmonary embolism (PE). It addresses key topics such as the quantification of the thrombotic burden, its role as a predictor of mortality, new diagnostic techniques that are available, the possibility of analyzing the thrombus composition to differentiate its evolutionary stage, and the applicability of artificial intelligence (AI) in PE through CTPA. The only finding from CTPA that has been validated as a prognostic factor so far is the right ventricle/left ventricle (RV/LV) diameter ratio being >1, which is associated with a 2.

Microscopic image segmentation (MIS) is a fundamental task in medical imaging and biological research, essential for precise analysis of cellular structures and tissues. Despite its importance, the segmentation process encounters significant challenges, including variability in imaging conditions, complex biological structures, and artefacts (e.g.

Introduction: This qualitative literature review explored the intersection of art, creativity, and the nurse-patient relationship in the context of oncology nursing. It delved into the perceptions and reflections of nurses as captured by Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) analysis from two specialized nursing databases.
Methods: The protocol was registered on the Open Science Framework (OSF) Platform.

Polysaccharide-based carriers as biomaterials for drug delivery have been inspiring scientists for years due to their exceptional characteristics, such as nontoxicity, biocompatibility, and degradability, as they are able to protect pharmaceutically active molecules and provide their controlled/modified release. This review focuses on selected drug delivery systems based on natural polymers, namely fucoidan, pullulan, dextran, and pectin, with the aim of highlighting published patent documents. The information contained in patents is very important because it is usually not published in any other document and is much less discussed as the state of the art in the scientific literature.

Ensuring the safety of chemicals for environmental and human health involves assessing physicochemical (PC) and toxicokinetic (TK) properties, which are crucial for absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and toxicity (ADMET). Computational methods play a vital role in predicting these properties, given the current trends in reducing experimental approaches, especially those that involve animal experimentation. In the present manuscript, twelve software tools implementing Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationship (QSAR) models were selected for the prediction of 17 relevant PC and TK properties.
