Long COVID is a complex pathophysiological condition. However, accumulating data suggests that COVID-19 is a systemic microvascular endothelial dysfunction with different clinical manifestations. In this study, a microvascular function was assessed in long COVID patients (n = 33) and healthy controls (n = 30) using flow-mediated skin fluorescence technique (FMSF), based on measurements of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide fluorescence intensity during brachial artery occlusion (ischemic response, IR) and immediately after occlusion (hyperemic response, HR).

This study aimed to evaluate the impact of acute intravenous beta-blocker administration on myocardial blood flow (MBF) during same-day hybrid coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) and 13N-ammonia positron emission tomography (PET) myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI). Previous research on the discontinuation of oral beta-blockers before MPI has shown mixed results, with no studies yet exploring the acute intravenous administration in the context of same-day hybrid imaging. This retrospective study included patients with suspected chronic coronary syndromes undergoing same-day hybrid CCTA/13N-ammonia PET MPI.

Aims: Cerebral hypometabolism occurs years prior to a diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases and coincides with reduced cerebral perfusion and declining noradrenergic transmission from the locus coeruleus. In pre-clinical models, β-adrenoceptor (β-AR) agonists increase cerebrocortical glucose metabolism, and may have therapeutic potential for neurodegenerative diseases. This study investigated the safety and effects on regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) of the oral, brain-penetrant β-AR agonist, clenbuterol, in healthy volunteers (HV) and patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or Parkinson's disease (PD).

Introduction: Schistosomiasis (SM) is a parasitic disease caused by . SM causes chronic inflammation induced by parasitic eggs, with collagen/fibrosis deposition in the granuloma process in the liver, spleen, central nervous system, kidneys, and lungs. Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a clinical manifestation characterized by high pressure in the pulmonary circulation and right ventricular overload.
