In order to investigate the relation between changes in epidermal thickness and pain-related behavior in different rat hind paw areas we performed partial denervation using two experimental models of neuropathic pain injury: spinal nerve ligation (SNL) and chronic constriction injury (CCI). Denervation produced significant epidermal thinning in both models. The most pronounced thinning was observed in the lateral paw region of the SNL group. Both models showed increase in hyperalgesic response during the postoperative period and no behavioral differences between testing regions. Our study showed that partial denervation induces regional differences in epidermal thinning but not in pain-related behavior.

Objectives: In this study, we aimed to compare the efficacy of two regional anesthesia methods, transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block and erector spinae plane (ESP) block, for intraoperative and postoperative pain relief in patients undergoing laparoscopic nephrectomy.
Methods: Fifty patients aged 18-80 years with American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) classification I-II scheduled for elective laparoscopic nephrectomy were included after ethical approval and informed consent. Patients were randomly assigned to either Group TAP (receiving TAP block) or Group ESP (receiving ESP block).

Failure of central nervous system (CNS) axons to regenerate after injury results in permanent disability. Several molecular neuro-protective and neuro-regenerative strategies have been proposed as potential treatments but do not provide the directional cues needed to direct target-specific axon regeneration. Here, we demonstrate that applying an external guidance cue in the form of electric field stimulation to adult rats after optic nerve crush injury was effective at directing long-distance, target-specific retinal ganglion cell (RGC) axon regeneration to native targets in the diencephalon.

Wrist denervation using a two-incision technique is an alternative to proximal row carpectomy and partial or total wrist arthrodesis. Pathological TDP-43 loss from the nucleus and cytoplasmic aggregation occurs in almost all cases of ALS and half of frontotemporal dementia patients. Stathmin2 (Stmn2) is a key target of TDP-43 regulation and aberrantly spliced Stmn2 mRNA is found in patients with ALS, frontotemporal dementia, and Alzheimer's Disease. STMN2 participates in the axon injury response and its depletion in vivo partially replicates ALS-like symptoms including progressive motor deficits and distal NMJ denervation.
