Purpose: This retrospective case series assessed the results of a treatment protocol for patients with infected para-articular knee nonunions. The aim was to demonstrate that knee function and quality-of-life (QoL) can be improved.
Case Series: Between January 2001 and December 2011, eleven patients with septic proximal tibial nonunion and seven with septic distal femoral nonunion were managed at our institution.

Background And Purpose: Schnitzler syndrome is characterized by chronic urticaria, monoclonal gammopathy, and a risk of developing lymphoproliferative disorders. Patients frequently present with bone pain, fever, arthralgia, and lymphadenopathy. The purpose of this study is to retrospectively review and evaluate potentially attributable imaging abnormalities in a series of patients with clinically diagnosed Schnitzler syndrome.

The beta-2 microglobulin type of amyloidosis was identified in articular and para-articular tissues of 14 patients with non-amyloid nephropathies undergoing long-term hemodialysis. Ten patients had carpal tunnel syndrome, 13 had juxta-articular radiolucent cysts (complicated by spontaneous fractures of the femoral neck in three), and six had destructive arthropathies of the large joints of the limbs. Massive amyloid deposits were found in the synovium, capsule, ligaments, articular cartilage, and/or bone.
