Aim Of The Study: To estimate concentration of fetuin A in children with nephrotic syndrome (NS).
Material And Methods: 53 children with NS aged from 2.5 to 17.2 years (mean age 7.7 +/- 4.4 years), 27 in remission of NS, 26 in relapse of NS were involved into the study. The control group consisted of 22 healthy children, aged from 6.5 to 17.5 years, mean age 10.8 +/- 3.3 years. In all children serum concentration of fetuin A, calcium, phosphorus, total cholesterol, albumin, triglycerides, and total daily urine protein loss were measured.
Results: The concentration of fetuin A in children in relapse was significantly lower compared to children in remission and control group (65.9 +/- 28; 87.2 +/- 23.2; 101.9 +/- 11.6 ng/mL, respectively, p < 0.0001). Significant correlation was found between concentrations of fetuin A and albumin level (r = 0.36, p < 0.05) and calcium concentration (r = 0.30, p < 0.05) and negative correlation between concentration of fetuin A and daily proteinuria (r = -0.36, p < 0.05).
Conclusion: Low concentration of fetuin A in children in relapse of NS it may depends on proteinuria.

Background: The serum calcification propensity test (or T50 test) might become a standard tool for the assessment of vascular calcification risk and T50 might be a valuable biomarker in clinical trials of treatments intended to slow the progression of vascular calcification. Literature data suggest that non-calcium-containing phosphate binders can influence T50 in chronic dialysed patients. However, it is not clear whether similar interventions are effective in patients at earlier stages of chronic kidney disease (CKD).

Urine samples were systematically collected from inseminated Murrah buffaloes (Bubalus bubalis) on days 0, 7, 14, 21 and 28 (with day 0 representing the day of artificial insemination). Following confirmation of pregnancy via trans rectal palpation 45 days of insemination, the animals were categorised into pregnant and non-pregnant groups (n = 10 each). The urine samples on 0, 7, 14, 21 and 28 days of pregnant and one sample from non-pregnant preferably collected on 28th day was used for SDS-PAGE after diafiltration.

Background: Rheumatic heart disease (RHD) remains a persistent public health challenge, particularly prevalent in developing and underdeveloped regions despite concerted global eradication efforts. The progressive stage of RHD, marked by valvular calcification, necessitates the imperative need to identify prognostic biomarkers. Fetuin-A, well-known for its role as a negative inhibitor of ectopic calcification, is investigated in our study as a potential biomarker for cardiac valve calcification in RHD patients.

The maintenance of genomic integrity in rapidly proliferating cells is a substantial challenge during embryonic development. Although numerous cell-intrinsic mechanisms have been revealed, little is known about genome-protective effects and influences of developmental tissue microenvironments on tissue-forming cells. Here we show that fetal liver hepatocytes provide protection to haematopoietic stem and progenitor cell (HSPC) genomes.
