Introduction: Since the development of pedicle screw fixation in the spine, safe placement has remained a crucial component in maximizing patient outcomes and mitigating pedicle screw-related complications. The purpose of this study is to investigate the utility of pedicle tapping in identifying pedicle breaches.
Methods: A pediatric spine surgery database was queried to identify a consecutive series of patients who underwent spinal deformity surgery utilizing pedicle screw fixation between May 2019 and October 2022.

As the main inhibitory neurotransmission system, the GABAergic system poses an interesting yet underutilized target for molecular brain imaging. While PET imaging of postsynaptic GABAergic neurons has been accomplished using radiolabeled benzodiazepines targeting the GABA receptor, the development of presynaptic radioligands targeting GABA transporter 1 (GAT1) has been unsuccessful thus far. Therefore, we developed a novel GAT1-addressing radioligand and investigated its applicability as a PET tracer in rodents.

In many domains, learning from others is crucial for leveraging cumulative cultural knowledge, which encapsulates the efforts of successive generations of innovators. However, anecdotal and experimental evidence suggests that reliance on social information can reduce the exploration of the problem space. Here, we experimentally investigate the extent to which cultural transmission fosters the persistence of arbitrary solutions in a context where participants are incentivized to improve a physical system across multiple trials.

Droplet evaporation on solid substrates is a ubiquitous phenomenon and is relevant in many natural and industrial processes. Whereas it has been reported that the evaporation process is sped up on soft substrates compared with that on hard substrates, no attempt has been made in exploring how substrate stretching affects droplet evaporation and evaporative deposition patterns. Here, we systematically investigate the contact line dynamics of droplets evaporating on substrates with different stiffnesses and stretching ratios and the structures of the evaporative deposition patterns of nanoparticles.

Ras gene is frequently mutated in cancer. Among different subtypes of Ras gene, K-Ras mutation occurs in nearly 30 % of human cancers. K-Ras mutation, specifically K-Ras (G12D) mutation is prevalent in cancers like lung, colon and pancreatic cancer.
