Research shows that obesity has risen among rehabilitation patients. Despite this, nutrition care in subacute rehabilitation wards focuses primarily on preventing and treating protein-energy malnutrition. The continued provision of energy-dense meals during lengthy rehabilitation admissions may present a risk of overnutrition for some patients, which can adversely affect functional outcomes.

CSIR-Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, Lucknow-226015, Uttar Pradesh, India; Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR), Ghaziabad-201001, Uttar Pradesh, India. Electronic address:

We investigated the antimicrobial efficacy of seven essential oils from four plant families-Lamiaceae, Asteraceae, Zingiberaceae, and Poaceae-against microbes associated with dandruff. The antimicrobial effectiveness of these essential oils was assessed using paper disk agar diffusion and broth micro-dilution techniques. The results demonstrated that two of the essential oils significantly inhibited the growth of dandruff-associated microorganisms, with inhibition zones ranging from 5 ± 1.

This study aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the acute and subacute safety and phytochemical profile of pomegranate leaves, aligning with the growing interest in sustainable, plant-based therapeutics. The phytochemical composition, the acute and subacute toxicity of a spray-dried hydroethanolic extract from pomegranate leaves (SDE) were investigated using experimental animal models. Utilizing UV-visible spectrophotometry and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS), a diverse array of tannins and flavonoids, totaling 38 compounds, was identified.

The subjective visual vertical (VV), the visually estimated direction of gravity, is essential for assessing vestibular function and visuospatial cognition. In this study, we aimed to investigate the mechanisms underlying altered VV perception in stroke participants with unilateral spatial neglect (USN), specifically by examining their eye movement patterns during VV judgment tasks. Participants with USN demonstrated limited eye movement scanning along a rotating bar, often fixating on prominent ends, such as the top or bottom.

Cervical lower motor neuron syndromes: A diagnostic challenge.

J Neurol Sci

Veneto Regional Center Motor Neuron Diseases, Department of Neurosciences, University Hospital of Padova, Italy.

Cervical lower motor neuron (LMN) syndromes, also known as brachial paresis, are characterized by muscle atrophy, weakness, and decreased reflexes in the upper limbs, devoid of sensory symptoms. These syndromes can stem from various factors, including degenerative conditions, immune-mediated diseases, infections, toxic exposures, metabolic disorders, and vascular anomalies. Clinical presentations vary, with motor neuron involvement potentially limited to the cervical area or extending to other regions, affecting prognosis.
