Random walks and related spatial stochastic models have been used in a range of application areas, including animal and plant ecology, infectious disease epidemiology, developmental biology, wound healing and oncology. Classical random walk models assume that all individuals in a population behave independently, ignoring local physical and biological interactions. This assumption simplifies the mathematical description of the population considerably, enabling continuum-limit descriptions to be derived and used in model analysis and fitting.

Given the capability to produce parts with complex geometries, powder bed fusion using a laser beam (PBF-LB), one of several additive manufacturing techniques, is becoming increasingly prevalent in both research and industry. Advances in the development of biomedical lattice structures show a trend in the use of functional gradients for greater customization and adjustment of mechanical properties according to the demands. This study analyzed four biomedical potential lattice structures (regular and graded) manufactured using PBF-LB in Ti6Al4V alloy.

A key question in protein evolution and protein engineering is the prevalence of evolutionary paths between distinct proteins. An evolutionary path corresponds to a continuous path of functional sequences in sequence space leading from one protein to another. Natural selection could direct a mutating coding region in DNA along a continuous functional path (CFP), so a new protein could arise far more easily than if a coding region were randomly mutating without any constraints.

Breaking barriers: enhancing solubility and dissolution of efonidipine using co-amorphous formulations.

School of Pharmacy, RK University, Kasturbadham, Rajkot, Gujarat, 360020, India.

The study aims to enhance the solubility and dissolution characteristics of efonidipine hydrochloride ethanolate (EFD), an antihypertensive drug, through the co-amorphous approach. Hypertension is a prevalent chronic condition characterized by consistently elevated blood pressure. Efonidipine, a BCS class II drug, has high permeability but low solubility, limiting its therapeutic effectiveness.

globalization and population mobility have increased the spread of infectious diseases and challenged public health security. This paper proposes a complex network epidemic model with nonlinear incidence rate and quadratic transmission. The Turing pattern, sensitivity analysis and parameter identification of the epidemic model under different network structures are studied; METHODS:: this paper discusses the Turing pattern of the model under different network structures, and identifies the key parameters of the model through sensitivity analysis.
