Several novel catechin/epicatechin and nucleobase chimeric molecules 1-6 have been synthesized via azide-alkyne click chemistry. The structures of these hybrids have been confirmed by NMR and mass spectroscopic data. The synthesized molecules were tested for their RNase A inhibition activities. Gel-based assays showed inhibition in micromolar concentrations. The extent of inhibition was found to be dependent upon the nature of base as well as the configuration at C-3 position of catechin.

hnRNPA2B1 drives colorectal cancer progression via the circCDYL/EIF4A3/PHF8 axis.

Kaohsiung J Med Sci

January 2025

Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery Center, Weifang People's Hospital, Weifang, China.

The RNA-binding protein hnRNPA2B1 acts as an m6A reader and plays a role in tumor development. This study investigates the potential mechanism of hnRNPA2B1 in colorectal cancer (CRC) progression. The expression profiles of hnRNPA2B1, circCDYL, and PHF8 in CRC cell lines were analyzed.

December 2024

Guangxi Key Laboratory of Animal Breeding and Disease Control, College of Animal Science and Technology, Guangxi University, Nanning 530004, China.

The specific expression profile and function of circular RNA (circRNA) in follicular atresia remain largely unknown. Here, the circRNA expression profiles of granulosa cells derived from healthy follicles (HFs) and antral follicles (AFs) in buffalo were analyzed by RNA-seq, and the mechanism of a differentially expressed circRNA (DEcircRNA) circTEC regulating the granulosa cell function that affects follicular atresia was further explored. RNA-seq results showed that a total of 112 DEcircRNAs were identified.

Inhibition of IRE-1α Alleviates Pyroptosis and Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis by Suppressing Gasdermin D.

Liver Int

February 2025

Department of Liver Transplantation Center and National Health Commission (NHC) Key Laboratory of Transplant Engineering and Immunology, West China Hospital, Sichuan University, Chengdu, China.

Objectives: Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) is a significant risk factor for cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma, for which there is currently no effective treatment. This study aimed to investigate the regulatory mechanism between endoplasmic reticulum stress (ER stress) and pyroptosis in the liver under the context of MASH.

Methods And Results: Pyroptosis was examined in both in vivo and in vitro ER stress models.
