In mammals, the hedonic aspects (good versus bad) and sensory aspects (i.e., the molecular quality) of taste are associated with different brain regions. Anatomical data argue against such a separation in the primary taste center of Drosophila larvae. Is only one aspect of taste represented or do both co-exist at the same location? I present evidence for a hedonic representation in the larval taste center and review anatomical and behavioral data which support the co-existence of a sensory representation of taste with a hedonic representation.

Background/objectives: The development of culinary tourism offers not only unique culinary travel experiences but also allows for the exploration of various aspects related to food. The main aim of this study was to assess the food preferences of a selected group of female consumers regarding world cuisine and to analyze the sensory quality of selected world cuisine products: ayran, rice noodles, tempeh, and chorizo.
Methods: Sensory evaluation of utility characteristics, including color, aroma, texture, appearance, and taste, was conducted using a five-point scale.

Movie-watching is a central aspect of our lives and an important paradigm for understanding the brain mechanisms behind cognition as it occurs in daily life. Contemporary views of ongoing thought argue that the ability to make sense of events in the 'here and now' depend on the neural processing of incoming sensory information by auditory and visual cortex, which are kept in check by systems in association cortex. However, we currently lack an understanding of how patterns of ongoing thoughts map onto the different brain systems when we watch a film, partly because methods of sampling experience disrupt the dynamics of brain activity and the experience of movie-watching.

Background And Purpose: The treatment effect of consciousness after brain injury is currently uncertain. Thus, this study aimed to retrieve the evidence from neurologists around the world on the management of consciousness disorders in patients with severe brain injury and evaluate and summarize the evidence, providing the guidance on the related management for clinicians.
Methods: Following the evidence summary report standard of Fudan University Center for Evidence-Based Nursing, clinical guidelines, expert consensuses, systematic reviews, and evidence summaries were systematically retrieved from UpToDate; BMJ Best Practice; Guidelines International Network; the Cochrane Library; Embase; PubMed; Sinomed; Web of Science; CNKI; WanFang database; American Academy of Neurology (AAN); American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine (ACRM); European Academy of Neurology; and National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR).

Speech intelligibility declines with age and sensorineural hearing damage (SNHL). However, it remains unclear whether cochlear synaptopathy (CS), a recently discovered form of SNHL, significantly contributes to this issue. CS refers to damaged auditory-nerve synapses that innervate the inner hair cells and there is currently no go-to diagnostic test available.

"Low Carbon Brazilian Beef" (LCBB) represents a Brazilian concept brand that certifies livestock systems adopting specific technical guidelines to minimize methane gas emissions from cattle. Understanding consumers' perceptions of this brand concept can help develop strategies to promote its consumption. The objective of this study was to investigate the perception of Brazilian consumers living in the state of Rio de Janeiro regarding the LCBB through free word association and to evaluate the influence of socio-demographic variables, green consumption values and frequency of beef consumption in associations.
