Psoralen-sensitized photodamage (PUVA) of rat peritoneal exudate cells was investigated. Quartz-activated luminol-dependent chemiluminescence (ChL) was registered and the amount of trypan-positive cells was determined. Irradiation of peritoneal exudate cells in the presence of psoralen resulted in a dose-dependent monotonous inhibition of ChL. The reciprocity law of irradiation intensity and duration of irradiation was not valid for the observed inhibition of ChL: the inhibition increased with higher intensity. When psoralen previously photooxidized in ethanol (POP) was added to peritoneal exudate cell suspension, a double-phase response depending on psoralen irradiation dose was obtained: ChL activation was observed at low doses of UVA, ChL inhibition at high doses. Chemiluminescence inhibition correlated well with the increase in the number of trypan-positive cells. It may be supposed that the observed effects of PUVA or POP treatment are caused by cell cytoplasmic membrane damage.

To systematically evaluate the efficacy of Fuzheng Huayu (FZHY) tablets/capsules on hepatitis B-associated liver fibrosis or cirrhosis based on randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in order to provide more accurate evidence-based medicine for clinical rational drug use. Randomized controlled clinical trial research reports related to the treatment of hepatitis B-associated liver fibrosis or cirrhosis with FZHY published in SCI and statistical source core journals were retrieved from databases such as PubMed, Cochrane Library, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI). End-stage liver disease includes liver failure and decompensated cirrhosis resulting from various etiologies and often leads to patient mortality due to complications and clinical symptoms such as severe jaundice, ascites, hepatic encephalopathy, coagulopathy, and hepatorenal syndrome. Liver transplantation is currently regarded as the most effective treatment, but its clinical application is limited by the shortage of donors, elevated expenses, and post-transplant rejection. Stem cells are a group of cells with multidirectional differentiation potential and self-renewal ability, which can improve the clinical indicator outcomes through mechanisms such as immunoregulation and promotion of tissue repair in patients with end-stage liver disease.

Purpose: This study assesses the efficacy and safety of Portal Vein Recanalization with Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt (PVR-TIPS) in non-cirrhotic patients with chronic portal vein occlusion (CPVO), cavernomatous transformation, and symptomatic portal hypertension (PH) and/or portal vein thrombotic progression.
Material And Methods: Medical records of 21 non-cirrhotic patients with CPVO and portal cavernoma undergoing PVR-TIPS were analyzed. Hemodynamic (intraprocedural reduction in portosystemic pressure gradient), clinical (data on gastrointestinal bleeding, abdominal pain, ascites, and presence of esophageal varices from imaging exams) and technical success (PVR-TIPS) assessed efficacy.

Eosinophilic gastroenteritis is an uncommon, chronic, immune-mediated condition characterized by eosinophilic infiltration that can affect any segment of the gastrointestinal tract. Clinical manifestations depend on the different layers of the intestinal wall affected, which also allows its classification into three subtypes (Klein classification) (1): mucosal, which presents with abdominal pain, diarrhea, or vomiting; muscular, with obstruction or perforation; and serosal, classically with ascites. Diagnosis requires the demonstration of tissue eosinophilia with compatible clinical manifestations, after excluding other causes of eosinophilia.
