Microwave-, photo- and thermo-responsive polymer microgels that range in size from 500 to 800 microm and are swollen with water were prepared by a novel microarray technique. We used a liquid-liquid dispersion technique in a system of three immiscible liquids to prepare hybrid PNIPAm- co-AM core-shell capsules loaded with AuNPs. The spontaneous encapsulation is a result of the formation of double oil-in-water-in-oil (o/w/o) emulsion. It is facilitated by adjusting the balance of the interfacial tensions between the aqueous phase (in which a water-soluble drug may be dissolved), the monomer phase and the continuous phase. The water-in-oil (w/o) droplets containing 26 wt% NIPAm and Am monomers, 0.1 wt% Tween-80 surfactant, FITC fluorescent dye and colloidal gold nanoparticles spontaneously developed a core-shell morphology that was fixed by in situ photopolymerization. The results demonstrate new reversibly swelling and deswelling AuNP/PNIPAm hybrid core-shell microcapsules and microgels that can be actuated by visible light and/or microwave radiation (

The swift recombination of photo-induced electrons and holes is a major obstacle to the catalytic efficiency of TiO nanomaterials, but the incorporation of graphene oxide and out-field modification is considered a potent method to augment photocatalytic properties. In this work, a series of GO/TiO photocatalysts were successfully optimized by a microwave field. As determined by transient photocurrent response and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) tests, microwave irradiation at 600 W for 5 min on the GO/TiO photocatalyst promoted interfacial charge transfer and suppressed charge recombination.

The onset of the coronavirus has highlighted the critical need to swift diagnostic techniques to identify the virus. Metal Organic Frameworks (MOFs) have attracted considerable attention in the field of sensing due to the remarkable characteristics. The present research examines the microwave preparation of naphthalimide-functionalized zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (NI/ZIF-8) to the detection of coronavirus as a probe.

The integration of noble metal nanoparticles (NPs) effectively modifies the electronic properties of semiconductor photocatalysts, leading to improved charge separation and enhanced photocatalytic performance. TiO nanorods decorated with Au NPs were successfully synthesized using a cost-effective, rapid microwave-assisted method in HO and HF media for methylene blue (MB) degradation under visible light illumination. X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), N2 physisorption, and UV-vis spectroscopy were employed to characterize the structures, morphologies, compositions, and photoelectronic properties of the as-synthesized materials.

Fluorescent Carbon Quantum Dots (CQDs) are being used in medical applications, particularly in theranostics. These Carbon Quantum Dots have been gaining more attention lately due to their potential as an effective replacement for hazardous synthetic organic dyes in a variety of biomedical applications, including live cell imaging and diagnostics. In this study, highly fluorescent Carbon Quantum Dots by one pot microwave based green route with a size of less than 10 nm, was prepared from commercially available almond resin, Prunus dulcis and conjugated with honey as additional reagent for surface functionalization.

Near-infrared (NIR) persistent luminescence (PersL) materials have attracted extensive attention due to their great promise in medical diagnostics, bio-imaging, night vision surveillance, multi-level anticounterfeiting, and information encryption. To achieve NIR PersL (micro/nano-) materials with the desired properties, a variety of synthesis methods have been employed, including solid-phase reaction and liquid-phase synthesis. Different synthesis methods have different but important effects on the micro/nano-structure, luminescence, and PersL properties of the materials.
