Published: October 2008

Introduction: The aim of our study was to describe labour characteristics after intracytoplasmic sperm injection programme. This is the first study of those deliveries at the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics in Novi Sad.

Patients And Methods: Subjects were 73 parturients and their babies from the intracytoplasmic sperm injection programme (48 singletons, 22 twins and 3 triplets), delivered from January 1st, 2001 to December 31st, 2006.

Results: At the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics in Novi Sad, 0.65% of all deliveries are those from assisted reproductive programmes. 30.67% of all labours after assisted reproductive programmes are after intracytoplasmic sperm injection. One half of all labours after intracytoplasmic sperm injection are twins. The mean age of women is 33-34. More than 95% of all babies were delivered by Cesarean section.

Discussion: The most frequent pathologies in labours after intracytoplasmic sperm injection are hypertensive disorders and premature rupture of membranes. There is still a matter of debate what is a real cause for those pathologies, especially for hypertension (age of woman, laboratory factors and or induction of ovulation).

Conclusion: At the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics in Novi Sad, one third of all deliveries after assisted reproductive programme are after intracytoplasmic sperm injection. The most frequent pathologies after intracytoplasmic sperm injection are hypertensive disorders, which is similar to findings of other authors. The mean age of women is also similar to the mean European age of women after intracytoplasmic sperm injection.

Nomogram to predict cumulative live birth rate following in vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection cycles in patients with endometriosis.

BMC Pregnancy Childbirth

January 2025

Key Laboratory of Reproductive Genetics (Ministry of Education) and Department of Reproductive Endocrinology, Women's Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Hangzhou, 310006, Zhejiang, China.

Background: The success of in vitro fertilization (IVF)/intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) in endometriosis patients varies widely, and predicting the likelihood of achieving a live birth remains a clinical challenge. This study aims to develop a predictive nomogram for assessing the cumulative live birth (CLB) rate following IVF/ICSI cycles among patients with endometriosis.

Method: A retrospective cohort study was conducted to analyze the clinical data of 1457 patients with endometriosis after IVF/ICSI treatment from January 2017 to August 2022.

Objectives: Acetylated tubulin is a hallmark of flagellar stability in spermatozoa, and studies have demonstrated the ability of CDYL to function as a tubulin acetyltransferase in spermatozoa. Of note, germline conditional knockout of Cdyl can lead to asthenoteratozoospermia and infertility in male mice. However, the role of CDYL gene in human fertility remains uncharacterized.

Purpose: To explore the impact of high body mass index (BMI) on the embryo quality and clinical outcomes of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) patients, and the possible genes involved.

Methods: Patients who underwent in-vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment and embryo transfer in our center from November 2014 to September 2023, were divided into low BMI PCOS (LBP) group, high BMI PCOS (HBP) group, and high BMI control (HBC) group. Transcriptome sequencing was performed in eight PCOS patients' granulosa cells (GCs).

Success Rates of Assisted Reproduction for Men With Cystic Fibrosis.

Pediatr Pulmonol

January 2025

Department of Respiratory Medicine, Manchester Adult Cystic Fibrosis Centre, North West Lung Centre, Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, Manchester, UK.

Background: The vast majority of men with CF (mwCF) are infertile. Improvements in assisted reproductive technology (ART) have made it possible for these patients to become biological fathers.

Methods: Data were examined for all male CF patients attending a large adult CF center over a 23-year period.

Background: Both intramural myomas and thin endometrium exert a detrimental influence on the outcomes of assisted reproductive technology (ART). The downregulation of gonadotropin releasing hormone agonists (GnRH-a) is regarded as an effective approach to reducing the size of intramural fibroids and enhancing endometrial receptivity. Consequently, we conducted this study to assess whether the GnRH-a combined with hormone replacement therapy (GnRH-a-HRT) can improve reproductive outcomes in frozen embryo transfer cycles for patients with a thin endometrium (≤7 mm) and intramural fibroids.
