Article Synopsis
  • * Studies revealed that gemcitabine-resistant cells have higher levels of phosphoglycerate dehydrogenase (PHGDH) and altered metabolic pathways, which enhance survival and growth despite treatment.
  • * Targeting PHGDH and combining a specific tyrosine kinase inhibitor with other treatments showed promising results in reducing tumor growth and promoting cell death in resistant bladder cancer cells in laboratory tests.

The history of intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and optical coherence tomography (OCT) reflects the relentless pursuit of innovation in interventional cardiology. These intravascular imaging technologies have played a pivotal role in our understanding of coronary atherosclerosis, vascular pathology, and the interaction of coronary stents with the vessel wall. Two decades of clinical investigations demonstrating the clinical efficacy and safety of intravascular imaging modalities have established these technologies as staples in the contemporary cardiac catheterization lab's toolbox and earning their place in revascularization clinical practice guidelines.

LC-MS/MS analysis of coccidiostats in meat supply chain safety.

J Mass Spectrom

January 2024

Biochemie Lab S.r.l., Via di Limite 27G, Campi Bisenzio (FI), 50013, Italy.

The presence of coccidiostats in meat products represents an important topic because of the animal administration of these substances, authorized as feed additives for targeted species, in order to prevent and inhibit coccidiosis. Coccidiostats include both ionophores and synthetic molecules characterized by different chemical-physical properties such as polarity. Meat is a matrix characterized by many interfering compound groups, such as proteins, phospholipids, and fats.

The minimum methionine requirement in the presence of excess dietary cysteine has not been determined in older adults. This study aimed to determine the minimum methionine requirement in healthy older adults using the indicator amino acid oxidation (IAAO) method. Fifteen healthy adults ≥ 60 years of age received seven methionine intakes (0 to 20 mg/kg/d) plus excess dietary cysteine (40 mg/kg/d).
