Synchronous and excitation emission matrix fluorescence (EEMF) characteristics of humic acid-surfactant interaction have been studied. The variation of synchronous and EEMF spectral maxima and intensities with humic acid (HA)-cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) composition sensitively reflects the extent of flocculation of HA. It was found that the concentration range for co-precipitation of HA-CTAB was similar for all concentrations (60 p.p.m., 80 p.p.m. and 100 p.p.m.) of humic acid studied. In the concentration range 60-150 p.p.m. of humic acid, the EEMF maximum is found at 460/540 nm, indicating the presence of ligneous materials. Fluorescence intensity measurement at this contour excitation/emission wavelength (460/540 nm) is suggested as a convenient and a sensitive method for studying the physical state of humic acid in the presence of cationic surfactants. No significant interaction of HA with sodium dodecylsulphate (SDS) and TX-100 was found.

Impact of climate change that stems from gaseous emissions require sustainable materials to eliminate sulfur. This study involves the modification of humic acid with magnetite nanoparticles (Fe₃O₄ NPs) by a microwave-assisted synthesis of an absorbent with reasonable pore volume and diameter for elimination of thiophenic compounds from fuel. The magnetic nano adsorbent designated Fe3O4@HA was characterized using advanced spectroscopic techniques, while their structure and morphology were analyzed through DLS, XPS, XRD, FT-IR, TGA, FESEM-EDX, VSM, and BET-N2 techniques.

Currently few efficient decentralized composting reactors have been developed, and there is also little exploration into their comprehensive environmental impact and carbon emissions. This study developed a continuous pulse alternating ventilation composting pilot device, SC-PAVCR. Results demonstrated that SC-PAVCR effectively maintained the thermophilic phase during the 120-day operation period.

Enhancing the passivation of heavy metals and increasing organic matter content during the composting of sewage sludge poses significant challenges for maximizing its utilization value. Results indicated that in the control, biochar, microbial agents and microbial agents-loaded biochar (BCLMA) groups, BCLMA addition led to a higher composting temperature, with increases of 17-62% in humic acid, 25-73% in germination index, and 30-35% in organic matter consumption. And the residual fraction of Cu, Zn, Cr and Cd were increased by 30%, 12%, 22% and 17%, respectively.

Polyelectrolyte multilayer (PEM) membranes, with advantageous features of versatile chemistry and structures, are driving the development of advanced nanofiltration (NF) membranes with exceptional performance. While developing a printing method holds great promise for the eventual mass production of these membranes, reports on the printing method and the underlying mechanisms of membrane formation are currently scarce. Herein, we develop an aerosol-assisted printing (AAP) system for fabricating PEM NF membranes with highly tunable separation characteristics.
