Rainbow trout were used to evaluate the relationship between the somatostatin (SS) signaling and the growth hormone (GH)-insulin-like growth factor (IGF) systems during pre-hatch and post-hatch embryonic development. The expression of preprosomatostatins (PPSS), SS receptors (SSTR), GH receptors (GHR), IGF-1, IGF-2, and IGF type 1 receptors (IGFR1) was examined in various regions at the eyed-egg (29 days post-fertilization, dpf;), post-hatch (53dpf), swim-up (68dpf), and complete yolk-absorbed (90dpf) stages. In head, PPSSI mRNA abundance increased during development while that of PPSSII' decreased and that of PPSSII'' remained unchanged. In body and tail, mRNA abundance of all PPSSs remained unchanged except that of PPSSII'' which declined in the tail. SSTR expression increased as development progressed in all regions with the exception of SSTR1A mRNA which remained unchanged. mRNA levels of GHR1 declined in all regions of post-hatch embryos, whereas those of GHR2 remained unchanged. Expression of IGF-1 and IGF-2 in head and tail regions increased immediately after hatching, and then declined, whereas the expression of neither IGF changed during development in the body. The expression of IGFR1 mRNAs declined in all regions, reaching their lowest levels at 90dpf, with the exception of IGFR1A mRNA in the body which remained unchanged. The general decline in the expression of GH-IGF system components during development appears inversely related to a general increase in the expression of SS system elements, and suggests that these two systems interact to regulate the tissue expansion and tissue regression of embryogenesis.

This work investigates the sustainable reuse of expanded polystyrene (EPS) waste through a multi-cycle physical recycling process involving dissolution in acetone and subsequent manufacturing via Direct Ink Write (DIW) 3D printing and casting. Morphology and mechanical properties were evaluated as a function of the manufacturing technique and number of dissolution cycles. Morphological analysis revealed that casted specimens better replicated the target geometry, while voids in 3D-printed specimens aligned with the printing direction due to rapid solvent evaporation.

The spectra of internal friction and temperature dependencies of the frequency of a free-damped oscillation process excited in the specimens of an amorphous-crystalline copolymer of polyoxymethylene with the co-monomer trioxane (POM-C) with a degree of crystallinity ~60% in the temperature range from -150 °C to +170 °C has been studied. It has been established that the spectra of internal friction show five local dissipative processes of varying intensity, manifested in different temperature ranges of the spectrum. An anomalous decrease in the frequency of the oscillatory process was detected in the temperature ranges where the most intense dissipative losses appear on the spectrum of internal friction.

The effects of different doses (10-100 kGy) of electron beams on the molecular structure, microstructure, and thermoelectric properties of polypyrrole (PPy) under high-energy electron beam irradiation (10 MeV) were studied. The results showed that after electron beam irradiation, the conductivity of PPy increased slightly, but the Seebeck coefficient and power factor remained relatively stable. The structural analysis of FTIR, Raman spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction indicated that the molecular structure of PPy was strongly stable, and its microstructure was only slightly affected by electron beam irradiation.

: Mulberries exhibit antioxidant properties that may attenuate metabolic abnormalities. Kamphaeng Saen mulberry (KPS-MB-42-1) contains anthocyanins, polyphenols, and nutrients, but few studies have explored its benefits for human health. This study investigated the effects of a concentrated mulberry drink (CMD) from the KPS-MB-42-1 cultivar on metabolic and cardiovascular risk factors in obese individuals.

Endohedral metallo-borospherenes M@B have received considerable attention since the discovery of B in 2014. However, the coordination bonding nature of most of actinide-doped endohedral An@B still remains in dispute or unexplored. Extensive and systematic first-principles theory calculations performed herein unveil the ground states of triplet U@B (, , A), quartet U@B (, , B), quintet Np@B (, , A), sextet Np@B (, , A), septet Pu@B (, , A), octet Am@B (, , A), and octet Cm@B (, , A) at the coupled-cluster with triple excitations CCSD(T) level.
