Background: Altered gene expression in cancers holds great potential to improve the diagnostics and differentiation of primary and metastatic liver cancers. In this study, the expression of the protein-coding genes ring finger protein 135 (), ephrin-B2 (), ring finger protein 125 (), homeobox-C 4 (), actin-binding LIM protein 1 () and oncostatin M receptor () and the long non-coding RNAs (lncRNA) prospero homeobox 1 antisense RNA 1 () and leukemia inhibitory factor receptor antisense RNA 1 () was investigated in hepatocellular carcinoma, cholangiocarcinoma, colorectal liver metastases and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma liver metastases.
Methods: This study included 149 formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded samples from 80 patients.

Rapid, point-of-care tests are critical for early diagnosis of disease and detection of biological threats. Lateral flow immunoassays (LFIAs) are well-suited for point-of-care testing due to their ease of use and straightforward readout. However, limitations in sensitivity, quantification, and integration into sample-to-result systems indicate the need for further advancements.

colonies of the flagellated parasite exhibit characteristic fingering instability patterns. To enable data-driven and data-validated mechanistic modelling of these complex growth processes, it is crucial to first establish appropriate quantitative metrics beyond qualitative image comparisons. We present a quantification approach based on two scale-free metrics designed to characterize the shape of two-dimensional colonies.

Background: 21st century neurology will require scalable and quantitative tools that can improve neurologic evaluations over telehealth and expand access to care. Commercially available mixed-reality headsets allow for simultaneous presentation of stimuli via holograms projected into the real world and objective and quantitative measurement of hand movement, eye movement, and phonation.
New Method: We created 6 tasks designed to mimic standard neurologic assessments and administered them to a single participant via the Microsoft HoloLens 2 mixed-reality headset.
Testosterone is a critical hormone involved in regulating various physiological processes in both men and women. Accurate testosterone measurement is essential for diagnosing endocrine disorders such as hypogonadism and polycystic ovary syndrome and for routine testing. Traditionally, testosterone levels are measured using serum or plasma samples, which present challenges in sample collection, storage, and transport, particularly in resource-limited settings.
