Background: Standard surgical treatment for lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) due to benign prostatic obstruction (BPO) requires anaesthesia and hospitalization. Transperineal laser ablation (TPLA) is a novel minimally invasive treatment for BPO, which has been performed using local anaesthetics and conscious sedation.

Objectives: The aim of this study is to assess safety, feasibility and functional outcomes of TPLA for the treatment of LUTS in men fit also for standard surgery.

Objective The primary objective of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of performing retropubic mid-urethral transvaginal tape (TVT) with self-tailored ordinary polypropylene mesh (STOM) under sedation and local anesthesia in female patients with stress urinary incontinence (SUI). The second objective was to evaluate perioperative and immediate postoperative complications, success rates, and cost-effectivity. Materials and methods Forty-two subjects treated for stress urinary incontinence using STOM under local anesthesia were reviewed.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate how rectal midazolam sedation affects pain, stress, and cooperation in women undergoing an invasive urodynamic study (UDS).
  • A total of 84 women were randomly assigned to receive sedation or not, with results showing that the sedation group experienced significantly less pain during the procedure.
  • Although sedation proved effective for pain relief, it did not significantly reduce stress or improve cooperation levels compared to the control group.

Rhesus macaques represent an important species for translational and pre-clinical research studies across a multitude of disease and injury models, including aging. Ketamine anesthesia is used in humans and non-human primates but may be associated with adverse effects, including neuromuscular reactions. The effects of aging on ketamine adverse effects is not well characterized.

We evaluated the safety and feasibility of adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells to treat endoscopically urinary incontinence after radical prostatectomy in men or female stress urinary. We designed two prospective, nonrandomized phase I-IIa clinical trials of urinary incontinence involving 9 men (8 treated) and 10 women to test the feasibility and safety of autologous mesenchymal stem cells for this use. Cells were obtained from liposuction containing 150 to 200 g of fat performed on every patient.
