Here is another unit with clinical relevance. Tuberculosis remains a major health problem throughout the world, with approximately one-quarter of the population being infected. Rapid and accurate susceptibility testing for the tubercle bacillus is essential for control of the disease. Such testing can be accomplished by flow cytometry within twenty-four hours, instead of the days to weeks required by traditional methods. The use of flow cytometry both improves the quality of susceptibility testing and advances public health measures for the prevention and control of this ancient scourge.

Background: Germline heterozygous pathogenic variants (PVs) in TP53 cause Li-Fraumeni syndrome (LFS), a condition associated with increased risk of multiple tumor types. As the associated cancer risks were refined over time, clinical criteria also evolved to optimize diagnostic yield. The implementation of multi-gene panel germline testing in different clinical settings has led to the identification of TP53 PV carriers outside the classic LFS-associated cancer phenotypes, leading to a broader cancer phenotypic redefinition and to the renaming of the condition as "heritable TP53-related cancer syndrome" (hTP53rc).

Background: Strain Cyp38S was isolated as an endophyte from the plant Cyperus alternifolius, collected along the banks of the River Nile in 2019. Preliminary analysis tentatively identified Cyp38S as belonging to the genus Pseudocitrobacter.
Methods: The preliminary identification of Cyp38S was performed using the VITEK2 identification system, MALDI-TOF-MS, and 16S rRNA gene sequencing.

Traditional epidemiological studies are susceptible to confounding factors. To clarify the impact of metabolic syndrome and its diagnostic components on hepatocellular carcinoma, we conducted a preliminary mendelian randomization analysis with metabolic syndrome and its diagnostic components as exposures and hepatocellular carcinoma as the outcome. Another set of genetic data related to hepatocellular carcinoma was used as a validation cohort, repeating the mendelian randomization analysis and combining the two groups for a meta-analysis.

Objective: To investigate the impact of dexamethasone on the antibiotic susceptibility of common ocular pathogens in dogs and identify safe antibiotic-steroid combinations for veterinary ophthalmology.
Methods: This study utilized 30 bacterial isolates of Staphylococcus pseudintermedius, Streptococcus canis, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, collected from canine patients with suspected bacterial keratitis. The isolates were tested against 17 antibiotics in the presence of dexamethasone concentrations ranging from 0 to 2 mg/mL.

Background: Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is a prevalent and aggressive malignancy, with the von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) gene playing a critical role in its pathogenesis. However, the association between VHL gene variants and sporadic ccRCC risk remains unexplored in the Indian population. This study aimed to investigate the somatic and germline variants of the VHL gene in sporadic ccRCC patients from West Bengal, India, and their association with disease risk and clinicopathological parameters.
