The aim of this study was to investigate how blocking functional endothelin-converting enzyme activity may offer a new approach to inhibition of changes in pulmonary vessels reactivity due to development of hypoxia-induced pulmonary arterial hypertension in rats. This data shows that treatment with endothelin-converting enzyme blocker PP36 significantly reduced pathological changes due to hypoxia-induced pulmonary hypertension. One of the reasons may be the increased production and role of nitric oxide in pulmonary artery tone.

Vascular endothelial dysfunction is an important pathogenic factor in hypertension, in which angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) plays an important role. Peptides that bind to ACE may attenuate vascular endothelial dysfunction by altering the structure of ACE. This study demonstrated that ITAPHW and IRPNGL were resistant to simulated gastrointestinal fluid and were transported across the Caco-2 monolayer via the intercellular space, with ITAPHW showing a high apparent permeability coefficient of (1.

Astrocytes, vital support cells in the central nervous system (CNS), are crucial for maintaining neuronal health. In neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease (AD), astrocytes play a key role in clearing toxic amyloid-β (Aβ) peptides. Aβ, a potent neuroinflammatory trigger, stimulates astrocytes to release excessive glutamate and inflammatory factors, exacerbating neuronal dysfunction and death.

Introduction: Hypertension is a chronic cardiovascular disease, which can trigger some disease such as heart failure, loss of vision or kidney. There were various peptides derived from food that are recognized for their ability to inhibit ACE activity, potentially leading to a reduction in blood pressure levels . The primary objective of this research is to discover ACE inhibitory peptides from protein hydrolysates of eel bone collagen (EBCHs).

The integrity of the glomerular filtration barrier maintains protein excretion below 150 mg/day. When urinary proteins increase, this indicates damage to the filtration barrier. However, proteinuria is not only a marker of kidney damage but also exacerbates it through various mechanisms involving the glomerular and tubulointerstitial compartments.
