Projections of thalamic neurons to parietal association cortex of cat were examined by means of the retrograde axonal transport of fluorescent dyes (primuline and fast blue). It has been demonstrated that a dorsal part of the pulvinar (PL) and a dorsal part of the caudal area of the lateral posterior nucleus (LP) projected mostly to the middle suprasylvian gyrus (MSSG), while a ventral part of PL and a ventral part of the rostral area of LP--to the rostral suprasylvian gyrus (RSSG). Double labelled neurons were found in PL, LP, suprageniculatus, anterior ventral, ventral lateral as well as in the central lateral, paracentral and central medial nuclei after injections of two different dyes into MSSG and RSSG. Topic organization of sources of cortical projections from the PL--LP complex can probably provide a high level of discrimination of visual signals by single cortical neurons. At the same time during integration of information of a different subcortical origin RSSG and MSSG act, probably, in concord to a considerable extent, that suggests insufficient differentiation of RSSG and MSSG corresponding approximately to cortical areas 5 and 7 of cat.

Background: The relationship between autoimmune gastritis (AIG) and gastric polyps (GPs) is not well understood.
Aim: To explore the clinical characteristics and risk factors of AIG with GPs in patients.
Methods: This double center retrospective study included 530 patients diagnosed with AIG from July 2019 to July 2023.

To understand the neural mechanism of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and developmental delay/intellectual disability (DD/ID) that can be associated with ASD, it is important to investigate individuals at an early stage with brain, behavioural and also genetic measures, but such research is still lacking. Here, using the cross-sectional sMRI data of 1030 children under 8 years old, we employed developmental normative models to investigate the atypical development of gray matter volume (GMV) asymmetry in individuals with ASD without DD/ID, ASD with DD/ID and individuals with only DD/ID, and their associations with behavioral and clinical measures and transcription profiles. By extracting the individual deviations of patients from the typical controls with normative models, we found a commonly abnormal pattern of GMV asymmetry across all ASD children: more rightward laterality in the inferior parietal lobe and precentral gyrus, and higher individual variability in the temporal pole.

Purpose: Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) has emerged as a promising treatment for various neuropsychiatric conditions, including depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and Parkinson's disease. Recent research has focused on evaluating its effectiveness in treating patients with anorexia nervosa (AN). This systematic review and meta-analysis examined the impact of TMS on patients with AN and evaluated any potential adverse effects.

Background: The cortical gray matter-white matter interface (GWI) is a natural transition zone where the composition of brain tissue abruptly changes and is a location for pathologic change in brain disorders. While diffusion magnetic resonance imaging (dMRI) is a reliable and well-established technique to characterize brain microstructure, the GWI is difficult to assess with dMRI due to partial volume effects and is normally excluded from such studies.
Methods: In this study, we introduce an approach to characterize the dMRI microstructural profile across the GWI and to assess the sharpness of the microstructural transition from cortical gray matter (GM) to white matter (WM).

Prior work highlighted that procrastination and impulsivity shared a common neuroanatomical basis in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, implying a tight relationship between these traits. However, theorists hold that procrastination is motivated by avoiding aversiveness, while impulsivity is driven by approaching immediate pleasure. Hence, exploring the common and distinct neural basis underlying procrastination and impulsivity through functional neuroimaging becomes imperative.
