Family members are an important but often underappreciated resource in caring for hospitalized older adults. The Family Preferences Index is a 14-item approach to exploring caregivers' personal choices for participating in the care of hospitalized older adult family members. It can be administered as a structured interview or as a questionnaire. Higher scores indicate a greater preference to participate in care. The nurse can use the responses to the index to plan care that builds a partnership with the family. To watch a free video demonstrating the use of the index, go to http://links.lww.com/A296.

Migrants with refugee backgrounds in the Netherlands face significant reproductive health challenges, including higher rates of unintended pregnancies and limited access to contraception. This study explores how post-migration realities affect the reproductive agency of refugees from Afghanistan, Somalia, Eritrea and Syria. Utilising a participatory approach, eight peer researchers from these communities conducted eight focus-group discussions and 118 in-depth interviews, involving four migrant grassroots organisations and two Dutch non-governmental organisations.

Introduction/objectives: Patients returning to the community from incarceration (ie, reentry) are at heightened risk of experiencing trauma when interacting with the healthcare system. Healthcare professionals may not recognize patients' trauma reactions or know how to effectively respond. This paper describes the development and pilot evaluation of a single-session training to prepare primary care teams to deliver trauma-informed care (TIC) to patients experiencing reentry.

Globin X is a newly discovered member of the globin family, while its structure and function are not fully understood. In this study, we performed protein modelling studies using Alphafold3 and molecular dynamics simulations, which suggested that the protein adopts a typical globin fold, with the formation of a potential disulfide bond of Cys65 and Cys141. To elucidate the role of this unique disulfide in protein structure and stability, we constructed a double mutant of C65S/C141S by mutating the two cysteine residues to serine.

Vaccinia growth factor-dependent modulation of the mTORC1-CAD axis upon nutrient restriction.

Department of Veterinary Pathobiology, College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, USA.

The molecular mechanisms by which vaccinia virus (VACV), the prototypical member of the poxviridae family, reprograms host cell metabolism remain largely unexplored. Additionally, cells sense and respond to fluctuating nutrient availability, thereby modulating metabolic pathways to ensure cellular homeostasis. Understanding how VACV modulates metabolic pathways in response to nutrient signals is crucial for understanding viral replication mechanisms, with the potential for developing antiviral therapies.
