Achieving a desired whitening effect through short treatments without using peroxide and without compromising the integrity of tooth enamel remains a challenge in teeth whitening. Here, we developed a highly safe and efficient photodynamic therapy (PDT) strategy based on visible light-activated bismuth oxyiodide nanoparticles for nondestructive tooth whitening. The BiOI nanoparticles (NPs) exhibited efficient photocatalytic activity owing to their narrow band gap, effectively harnessing the broad spectrum of visible light to generate ample electrons and holes.

Coronary artery disease (CAD), acute coronary syndrome (ACS), and heart failure (HF) are major global health issues with high morbidity and mortality rates. Biomarkers like cardiac troponins (cTn) and natriuretic peptides (NPs) are crucial tools in cardiology, but numerous new biomarkers have emerged, proving increasingly valuable in CAD/ACS. These biomarkers are classified based on their mechanisms, such as fibrosis, metabolism, inflammation, and congestion.

Background: Migration exposes children and youth to vulnerabilities, including uprooting, lack of protection, limited access to services, and violence. Previous studies have shown that victimization experiences impact the mental health of migrant children, including depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder. This study aims to examine the co-occurrence of multiple forms of maltreatment (polyvictimization) among migrant and Chilean children and youth and its association with depressive symptoms, addressing a research gap in Latin America.
