Schistosomiasis epidemic is reemerging in some areas of China. The extensive snail habitat is a major challenge for a sustainable schistosomiasis control. Direct surveillance on snails for the disease control is no longer a desirable disease control approach due to current low density of infected snails and reduced funding. In this study the benefit of indirect monitoring of acute schistosomiasis cases, using spatial methods including disease mapping and spatial clustering analysis was explored in Guichi, China. Significant global clustering existed for acute cases and two statistically significant spatial clusters were detected, and subsequently validated by field surveys. Our study indicates that the application of geographic information system (GIS) and spatial methods are useful in the epidemiologic surveillance and risk assessment for acute schistosomiasis, providing an alternative approach with minimal funds required.

In order to utilize the advantages of optical computing and promote the application and popularization of Ternary Optical Computer (TOC), this paper proposes a dual-center programming model consisting of electronic processor and optical processor, presents the theory and technologies of the dual-center model in detail, and for the first time explains the SAN ZHI GUANG (SZG) file chain technology, gives the implementation method of the dual-center model. The model tries to effectively manage the resources of optical processor and solve the problem of the distance and network connection mode of using the TOC. Experimental results show that the dual-center model is correct and the implementation method is feasible.

Schistosomiasis japonica continues to pose a significant public health challenge in China, primarily due to the widespread distribution of , the sole intermediate host of . This study aims to address the constraints of existing remote sensing analyses for identifying snail habitats, which frequently neglect spatial scale and seasonal variations. To this end, we adopt a multi-source data-driven Random Forest approach that integrates bottomland and ground-surface texture data with traditional environmental variables, enhancing the accuracy of snail habitat assessments.

Background: The level of tumor abnormal protein (TAP) level has a significant impact on tumor growth, recurrence, and metastasis. Previous studies have highlighted the influence of the mutations in exons 19 and 21 of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), particularly the sensitivity displayed by tumor cells to epidermal growth factor receptor-tyrosine kinase inhibitor (EGFR-TKI) therapy. Our study is centered on exploring the clinical relevance of TAP and EGFR mutations in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Article Synopsis
  • A study was conducted in the Yangtze River Delta, China, to evaluate the impact of a single application of blended controlled-release nitrogen fertilizer (CRN) on rice growth compared to traditional split applications of urea.
  • The findings revealed that using blended CRN led to an average increase in rice yield by 0.9-6.9% and improved nitrogen-use efficiency (NUE) by up to 28.4%, particularly at a rate of 200 kg N/ha.
  • Additionally, this method reduced labor costs by 1800 Yuan per hectare, resulting in economic gains of 21.5-68.8% compared to conventional fertilizers.
