Osteochondroma (OC) is a common bone tumour that rarely affects the mandibular condylar process. This pathology can show typical clinical features, such as facial asymmetry, deviation of the chin and dental inferior midline, changes in condylar morphology and malocclusion with an increased posterior mandibular vertical height. The management of condylar OC is a debated topic among surgeons.

The aim of this comparative observational study is to evaluate and compare the size and position of the condyle among male and female patients with different skeletal patterns in the anterior-posterior dimension using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) images. CBCT images of 120 patients, all prepared for other treatment purposes under the same conditions, were included in the study. The patients were classified into three groups-class I, class II, and class III-based on ANB angles and Wits analysis.

We aimed to evaluate the correlation between cadaver stature and mandibular bone measurements using three-dimensional (3D) computed tomography (CT) images and develop a stature estimation formula for a Japanese population. In total, 307 and 72 identified cadavers who underwent postmortem CT were selected as the "training" and "validation" datasets, respectively, to derive a stature estimation formula. Four mandibular bone measurements (linear distances between the bilateral mandibular condyles: C-C, from the mental spine to the mandibular condyle: S-C, between the bilateral mandibular foramen: F-F, and from the mental spine to the mandibular foramen: S-F) were obtained from 3D CT-reconstructed images that included only the mandibular bone.

Objectives: Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) osteoarthritis (OA) is an inflammatory disease that involves periarthritis of the TMJ and destruction of cartilage tissue in the mandibular condyle. However, the role of proinflammatory cytokines in the expression levels of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) remains inconclusive. Thus, in this study, we aimed to investigate the effect of proinflammatory cytokines on the expression of MMPs.

Purpose: To analyze dynamic and static changes in the disc-condyle relationship in patients with skeletal Class III malocclusion after orthognathic surgery.
Methods: The surgical group comprised 30 patients with skeletal Class III malocclusion, and the magnetic resonance imaging and mandibular movement data were obtained at T0 (preoperatively), T1 (3 months postoperatively), and T2 (at the end of orthodontic treatment). The control group included 20 patients with normal occlusion, and the mandibular movement data were recorded.
