Objectives: To demonstrate the increase of preputial retractability with age. To point out the small usefulness of circumcision and preputial forced dilation during childhood.
Methods: The development of the prepuce and its retractability were evaluated in 1200 boys between 0 and 16 years. The prepuce was classified as type I to V depending on its lower or higher retractability in all cases having been dilated previously or not.
Results: Prepuce retractability in boys under one year was type I (not retractile) in 63.4%, whereas it was type V (completely retractile) in only 3.7%. The contrary was observed in adolescents (11 to 16 years), in which type I was 0.9% and type V was observed in 80.9%. It was also observed that 309 boys (43. 1%) among the 717 with previous prepuce forced dilation, had types I to IV prepuces, so, they had acquired new balanopreputial adherences by the time of examination for our study. Seventeen boys (0.4%) required circumcision. No children suffered upper urinary tract infections.
Conclusions: All boys are born with the prepuce covering the glans penis, keeping adherences between both structures, which disappear with age, being the detachment complete at the time of puberty in most boys. So, we consider circumcision or forced dilation of the prepuce unnecessary in most boys.

Objectives: Our aim was to evaluate the comparative effects of sertraline and vortioxetine against stress-induced brain injury in rats.
Methods: The rats were assigned to a nonstress group (NSG), stress-treated control (StC), sertraline + stress (SSt), and vortioxetine + stress (VSt) groups. Sertraline and vortioxetine (10 mg/kg) were given orally by gavage to the SSt and VSt groups.

Background: Changan Granule (CAG) is a drug product developed from a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) empirical prescription for diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-D). The action mechanism and effective compounds of CAG in the treatment of IBS-D are not well understood.
Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness, action mechanism and effective compounds of CAG for treating IBS-D.

Objectives: To observe the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) on the proliferation of hippocampal neurons and Wnt/β-catenin and Notch signaling pathways in depression like behavior rats, so as to explore its mechanism underlying improvement of depression.
Methods: SD rats were randomly divided into blank, model, medication and EA groups, with 12 rats in each group. The depression model was established by chronic unpredictable mild stimulation combined with solitary raising for 35 consecutive days.

Objectives: To explore whether electroacupuncture(EA) can increase the expression of suppressor of cytokine signaling (SOCS)3 by affecting the expression of miR-19b-3p, inhibiting the continuous activation of janus kinase (JAK)1 /signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT)3 signaling pathway, and improve pulmonary inflammation in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) mice.
Methods: Forty mice were randomly divided into normal, COPD model, COPD+EA, and COPD+miR-19b-3p agomir (agomir)+EA groups. The COPD model was simulated by cigarette smoke exposure for 1 h, twice a day for 3 months.

Objective: Serial intralesional steroid injections (SILSI) are increasingly used in the treatment of idiopathic subglottic stenosis (iSGS) and auto-immune related subglottic stenosis (SGS), which are both known for their high rate of recurrences. SILSI could potentially prolong the time to re-intervention. We evaluated the effects of adjuvant SILSI in iSGS and auto-immune related SGS-patients on time to reintervention and spirometry results.
