Investigations were performed in rabbits which were given gentamycin intramuscularly and subconjunctivally. After subconjunctival application gentamycin passes quickly into the eye and its therapeutical level persists up to 1 hour. After intramuscular injection gentamycin is passing slower into the aqueous but persists there longer (the therapeutical level--up to 5.5 hours).

Medical devices are susceptible to bacterial colonization and biofilm formation, which can result in severe infections, leading to prolonged hospital stays and increased burden on society. Antibacterial films have the potential to assist in preventing biofilm formation, thereby reducing administration of antibiotics and the emergence of antibiotic-resistant strains. Background: Acinetobacter baumannii (AB) is a notable cause of hospital-acquired infections, with carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (CRAB) classified as a high-priority critical pathogen. Bacteriophage therapy is emerging as a promising alternative to combat drug-resistant bacterial infections. In this study, a lytic phage, HZY2308, was isolated from hospital sewage, and the biological properties, biosafety and anti-biofilm properties of phage HZY2308 were characterized and identified.
