The likelihood of an infinitely long-lived, charge-shift state being formed by the target compound is re-assessed in light of persistent claims that such chemistry is both viable and observable.

The optically trapped ensembles of atoms provide a versatile platform for storing and coherent manipulation of quantum information. However, efficient realization of quantum information processing requires long-lived quantum states protected from the decoherence e.g.

An external periodic (Floquet) drive is believed to bring any initial state to the featureless infinite temperature state in generic nonintegrable isolated quantum many-body systems in the thermodynamic limit, irrespective of the driving frequency Ω. However, numerical or analytical evidence either proving or disproving this hypothesis is very limited and the issue has remained unsettled. Here, we study the initial state dependence of Floquet heating in a nonintegrable kicked Ising chain of length up to L=30 with an efficient quantum circuit simulator, showing a possible counterexample: the ground state of the effective Floquet Hamiltonian is exceptionally robust against heating, and could stay at finite energy density even after infinitely many Floquet cycles, if the driving period is shorter than a threshold value.

Motivated by the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang (KPZ) scaling recently observed in the classical ferromagnetic Heisenberg chain, we investigate the role of solitonic excitations in this model. We find that the Heisenberg chain, although well known to be nonintegrable, supports a two-parameter family of long-lived solitons. We connect these to the exact soliton solutions of the integrable Ishimori chain with ln(1+S_{i}·S_{j}) interactions.

Quantum memories that are capable of storing multiple spatial modes offer advantages in speed and robustness when incorporated into quantum networks. When it comes to spatial degrees of freedom, orbital angular momentum (OAM) modes have received widespread attention since they enable encoding with inherent infinite number of dimensions. Although the faithful storage of OAM qubits or qutrits has been realized in previous works, the achieved lifetimes are still on the order of a few microseconds as limited by the spatially dependent decoherence.

We extend the notions of multipole and subsystem symmetries to more general spatially modulated symmetries. We uncover two instances with exponential and (quasi)periodic modulations and provide simple microscopic models in one, two, and three dimensions. Seeking to understand their effect on the long-time dynamics, we numerically study a stochastic cellular automaton evolution that obeys such symmetries.
